About six hours into his night shift, Mingi found himself following his preceptor onto the ward. The lights in the halls were off, save for the little bench lights the nurses used to read patient charts, and the nurses station lights were dimmed. There was an ambiance to the place that Mingi had come to actually like, if he could manage the tiredness.

Striding down the halls, a commotion took him by surprise suddenly, catching his preceptor's attention as well.

Stopping in their tracks, both Mingi and his preceptor glanced down the hall towards the commotion.

And Mingi gasped.

'What will it take for you to understand that I'm not a child, for god's sake!'

Yunho? Mingi squinted in shock. Yunho and another doctor that Mingi had seen around were having an argument at the end of the hallway in front of the ward med room.

'It's fine-'

'It's not fine! Other doctors are starting to treat me like this as well and it's not acceptable. Which is besides the point. When I questioned you about your practice earlier, you lied straight to that person's face. I know I'm a student, but I'm not stupid. That was malpractice. Care to explain?'

As Yunho's voice lowered, Mingi had to strain to hear what was going on. He exchanged a glance with his preceptor, who seemed quite uneasy.

'Oh don't be melodramatic like your mother.'

'This is not about my mother! This is about you, and what you did. If you don't rectify this, I'm going to report it.'

Mingi watched as the doctor's eyes widened, and his 'chill' vibe vanished. 'If you do that, I'm sure people will love to hear about the reason your parents don't work here anymore.'

Mingi gasped as his preceptor's jaw dropped.

Yunho laughed sourly. 'And so your true colours show. You would blackmail me. I think you forget that in this situation, I stand to loose nothing, and you stand to loose everything. Fix your shit, or I'll fix it for you.'

As the doctor got more and more worked up, his voice raised, and Mingi noticed his preceptor divert course and stride straight towards them.

'You will never be able to work here!' The doctor threatened.

But Yunho just laughed. 'Tell me why I would want to work here with people like you anyways. You make me sick. Did you forget the oath you took when you attained your registration?'

As the doctor fumed, Mingi suddenly felt a massive wave of panic rise in him as it looked like the doctor was about to hit him -

- and then Mingi's preceptor stepped in, holding him back. 'That's enough, you two. Kwang Saem, go cool off. Student - what's your name?'

'Jung Yunho, sir.'

'Jung, why don't you come tell me what's going on here?'

Yunho glared at the doctor by the name of Kwang. 'Thank you, but ask me again in twenty-four hours.' He levelled his eyes, asserting a kind of dominance and ferocity that Mingi had never seen from him before, and wasn't particularly sure he ever wanted to see again.

'Own up, or I'll take away your chance. I don't give a single fuck. You're right. My parents don't work here, because my mother stood by her oath and advocated for the patients inside this hospital's walls, when no one else did, and was fired for it, along with my father. They blew the whistle, and were kicked out for it. So you better believe that I will do the exact same thing. I suggest, if you value your licence, you will walk your ass right back down into that room and apologise for your own fuck up.'

And with that, Yunho nodded politely to Mingi's perceptor, before smacking his shoulder into Kwang Saem as he walked away. As he glanced up though, his eyes met with Mingi's. They filled for a split second with surprise, before he made his decision.

Taking a deep breath, Yunho shifted his eyes to the floor and stalked right past him, leaving Mingi alone, with the doctors and the empty, dim ward.
