SAKUSA KIYOOMIPractice was more tiring than usual — I was more worn out than usual. My muscles ache and my body's tired, not because of the extra intense training but because of the extra time that have been, and should have not, been added to my schedule especially that I need more rest.
All I wanted was to sleep in the comforts of my bed, but here I am — standing in the corner of a designer cloth shop waiting for two women, who have dragged me right after practice and not giving me time to cool down.
Sitting in the luxurious sofa next to where I stand was my brother-in-law with his hands full of large bags all from the different shops we've been to these past two hours. Two hours since I got off practice, two hours since I was dragged to the mall; there could've been two hours for me to rest peacefully in my apartment...or maybe atleast see her even for just a few minutes.
I sighed tiredly, gently dropping the shopping bags to the floor as I leaned on the white walls.
"Sorry I couldn't do anything about them." Nishoka lets out a nervous chuckle. "You seem really exhausted...and annoyed."
"I am." I grunted.
"Say..."
I turned to the side, raising a brow at the older male as he continued.
"You don't like my sister, do you? That way I mean."
"What makes you say that?" I looked away, calmly responding.
"You look at Daina the same way you look at others." He replied and sighed, a few seconds later he looked up to the ceiling and laughed.
Why is he laughing?
"Are you angry?" I asked. "That I don't return your sister's feelings?"
He shook his head and looked down on his hands, fiddling with the bag strap. "If other, I'm relieved that you decided not to date her— I-I mean not because I think you're not good for Daina, don't get me wrong Kiyoomi, you're a great man. The fact that you could just easily date her even without feelings just for her status and looks, but you didn't...because you just...don't feel any romantic attraction towards her.
"Hell, you could even ask her to marry you next thing you know you're already standing in front of the altar the next day." He continued, turning to me with a close-eyed smile. "You could just do that, you know? And you'd still be living your best life. Probably even better."
I scrunched my face in confusion, now staring at him with a bewildered expression.
"I know it's none of my business, but me and your mom talked about you."
"What?"
He chuckled. "She told me about a girl you dated back in highschool and how much she changed you."
My eyes snapped wide only to see Nishoka now laughing. Mom remembered Saki?
"Could it be possible...that you still haven't moved on?"
Haven't moved on?
"She told me you guys broke up and she never heard of her ever since. And it's been more than five years, I assume she's left the country?"
I nodded slowly, sighing, "She's back."
"Oh." He went silent for a few seconds before clearing his throat as he then sat straight. "Okay, um, so...do you still have feelings for her?"
Do I? I wouldn't be feeling a weird churning in my stomach whenever she talks to me.
"Do you still love her?"
