CHOTTO MATTE—
IT HAS ONLY BEEN A DAY AND THIS BOOK IS ALREADY GETTING 1k+ READS?? I'M—
HONESTLY, YOU ALL ARE THE BEST😩❤️

YUA MISAKI

Why...is he here?

Of all the volleyball players I know that could be Atsumu's other friend...

Why does it have to be Sakusa Kiyoomi?!

That's when it occurred to me. Of course. I mentally groaned as I remembered his favorite V-League team back in highschool. Of course he'd aim to join that team!

"God. I should've just called an uber." I muttered to myself, careful not to let the black-haired man sitting silently in the backseat hear me.

Now things have became worse and awkward between us. I started regretting things again. First I regretted choosing Atsumu to pick me up only to find out that he's 'best friends' and teammates with the man I've been planning to avoid and second: I regret not coming with Atsumu, Hinata, and Bokuto inside the convenience store and decided to wait inside the car instead!

Only a minute has passed since the three went inside the convenience store to buy stuffs before we head to the the gym for a practice, and a minute with me and Sakusa left alone in the car.

The silence was awkward, very awkward and I could feel the unsettling tension that circulated around the car as if both of us wanted to say something. I held the urge to follow the others inside the store, but then it would be rude—

"States, huh?"

I froze upon hearing Sakusa's deep, cold voice after five years— no, HE WAS THE MAN I WAS SPEAKING TO ON THE PHONE TWO DAYS AGO?!

"Mm." I nodded and hummed in reply, not saying another word.

"Why didn't I know of this?"

"I...just didn't find the importance to tell you."

"You could've atleast told Motoya." His voice sound annoyed and bitter. "He was looking for you."

"I see. Then, tell him I said 'hi'."

He didn't respond and once again, silence took over for a few seconds. Subconsciously, my hand moved to the pockets of my bag to pull out my box of ci—

"How are you?" Sakusa spoke again, this time his voice was softer and less tense.

"Fine." I replied nonchalantly. "You?"

"Mm. Same."

Atsumu save me from the awkwardness.

"Are you—"

"Sakusa." I cut him off; my voice stern. "Can we just...forget that we ever had history? And just be friends? Please?"

I gulped nervously, hoping that this would be the moment of closure. That I can finally sleep in peace without thinking about our bitter ending. That I can hopefully lift this unknown weight weighing down on my chest...and that we can both move on and accept what happened between us.

Because until now, I still haven't accepted it no matter how many times I forced myself to like other guys, or how many cigars I smoke to ease the stress, or how I pour out my feelings into a book I'm currently working on.

I needed that closure to move on.

"Alright." He answered monotonously.

His response was the answer I hoped and wanted, but somewhere in his voice sounded as if he forced himself to say it.
