THIRD PERSON POINT OF VIEWSakusa lets out an annoyed exhale as he stood in front of the restaurant his sister told him to rendezvous for some reason he don't know. Mumbling incoherent words underneath his face mask, he stepped through the automatic glass doors and sighed in relief to see that the place wasn't crowded.
His eyes scanned the area and spotted a mop of wavy ebony hair, similar to his, sitting in the table by the corner of the restaurant. Beside the woman was a man with light-brown hair and in front of them was another woman with the same light-brown hair who also seemed to be the same age as him.
Not again. Sakusa scowled, about to exit the restaurant when his phone chimed, signaling a message.
Sakusa Koemi:
Daina-chan saw you. now come over here.Who the hell is Daina? He thought.
Growling, Sakusa had no choice but to make his way to the table. Sakusa arrived by the side of the table and instantly the three individuals greeted him with a smile. Koemi gestured for him to sit on the vacant seat beside the woman, but he only shook his head and furrowed his eyebrows impatiently.
"What's so important?" The germaphobe spoke with annoyance.
"Why don't you take a seat first, Omi-chan?" Koemi smiled.
Sakusa turned to the new woman then to the seat beside her before grimacing. He thought of the germs present in the table and this woman could bring.
"I'm in a hurry."
"What about?"
Sakusa sweatdropped and was unable to think of an excuse until his sister spoke again.
"Omi-chan, we only see each other atleast twice a month, don't you miss your sister?" Koemi pouted and huffed.
Ignoring her words and rolling his eyes, the germaphobe hesitantly sat on the seat, making sure to leave a few inches gap from the woman beside him.
"Hi Kiyoomi! How are you?" Nishoka, Koemi's husband and Kiyoomi's brother-in-law, greeted the ace.
The wavy-haired man just nodded at him and stayed silent.
"So Omi-chan," Koemi started, "You've been single for too long don't you think?"
Sakusa groaned, about to speak up when he was interrupted again.
"You and Daina-chan should get to know each other! And maybe, you two would get along very well. You remember her right? She's Shoka's youngest sister. I think you two would be a perfect a pair."
"Nice to meet you, Kiyoomi-san!" The light-brown haired woman greeted with a confident smile as she extended her hand towards him.
Sakusa only stared at her hand, before she retracted it back out of embarrassment as Sakusa only nodded and turned back to his sister.
"I'm too occupied with volleyball to date anyone." He sternly said.
"But Omi-chan, at your age you need a partner! Heck, you're even at the perfect age for marriage!"
The ace grunted at the ridiculous thought of him getting married to some other woman he barely know. Sighing, he respectfully bowed his head at the siblings and at his sister.
"I must decline, Nee-san." He said monotonously. "But there are other things I must focus on rather than this." He stood up, leaving the three stunned. With that, he placed his hands in the pockets of his jacket before bowing once again.
And that is getting Saki back.
Sakusa exited the restaurant as he walked in the sidewalks. Taking his phone out, he then dialed a certain brunette's number.
——
She overlooked the busy streets of Tokyo from a balcony in a 10-storey building, taking in the smell of Nicotine and chemical additives coming from the smoke that puffed out of the cigarette she had in between her lips.
Sighing, Misaki huffed out smoke from her mouth before placing the half-smoked cigarette in the ash tray beside her.
"Shimatta." She mumbled, throwing the emptied cigarette box in the trashcan. "I hate this," she sighed, "but I can't stop."
Misaki then felt a fluffy feeling in her legs. She looked down and saw her caramel-colored Pomeranian curling itself around her feet.
"Cinnamon, I told you not to come out here." The brunette sighed, hoping it would understand. She took the dog in her arms, running her slender fingers through it's fur as she sat in a chair of the glass balcony.
RIIINGGG! RIIIINGGG!
"Hello?"
"Hey princess!" It was Atsumu, speaking as bubbly as usual at 12:00 AM.
"Yo." Misaki tiredly replied.
"Do 'ya have plans tomorrow? I was planning to take 'ya out after practice."
"Are you seriously still up to courting me, Atsumu?" The brunette deadpanned.
"'Course, Micchi!" Misaki could imagine the flirtatious smile on the other line as Atsumu spoke. "I said I'd make 'ya mine, didn't I?"
"And I said I'm still not ready for courtship again. I'm sorry." Misaki laughed wryly, trying to not sound rude.
"Then...let's call it a friendly date!"
"Gomen, but I promised I'm meeting up with Tomoe tomorrow. Maybe next time?"
Atsumu lets out heavy sigh before smiling in understanding. "Guess I'll take my chances next time." He chuckled. "Alright, goodnight then."
"Yeah, goodnight."
They both hung up, leaving Misaki to stare off into space for a minute. Shaking her head, she placed Cinnamon down and watched it ran to her bedroom as she followed behind after making sure all lights are off.
She stood in front her mirror, slowly unbuttoning her shirt as the piece of clothing slid past her shoulders and unto the floor. Her fingers unbuttoned her pants, letting it fall below her ankles as she's only left with her underwear.
Misaki's eyes traveled back to her reflection, her fingers pressing every fading bruise and gliding it on every scar present on her torso down to her legs. A tear ran down her left cheek as memories of the first few months she spent in America started occurring in her mind.
The regret of rushing into things for the sake of forgetting the past lingered in her mind the whole time she was in college. Then Sakusa appeared in her mind. She never thought she'd meet her ex as soon as she landed in Japan.
Misaki had to act like she's completely moved on from the heartbreak five years ago. She can't let Sakusa see how it affected her or else she'd just sound needy to the germaphobe's eyes.
But already living a life with a stable career and finally financially stable, she'd be able to make herself happy without the need of affection from a man, unlike who she was back in highschool; a fool wanting to be loved.
Atleast that's what she keeps telling herself.
After changing into her nightgown, Misaki settled in her working desk and took out her drafts and unfinished stories. Taking out a pencil, she propped her chin on her palm and began thinking of the next chapter of her new book.
