THIRD PERSON POINT OF VIEW"A date?"
"You don't have to. I'm just suggesting. If you don't want to, then don't. I'm still not going to let you repay me with money though."
Silence fell on the two individuals as Misaki awkwardly shuffled to sit back on the other end of the sofa, chewing the insides of her cheeks while fiddling with her fingers.
"Why?"
Sakusa turned to her, scrunching his face in confusion.
"I mean...I know I kept asking this but, why do you still want me?" She continued. "It's been five years, you should've just moved on."
"It's not that easy."
"It should be easy for you. I've known you for years, you're that kind of person who easily moves on."
"You still perceive me like that?"
Misaki shrugged, chuckling, "Kinda."
Sakusa hummed in response, stretching his arms as he stood up while placing his mask on. "Turns out I'm not."
"Then, y-yes."
"Yes what?"
The brunette could feel her heart racing and the blood rushing up her cheeks as she looked away, trying not to stutter as she replied, "I'll go on...a d-date with you."
Sakusa's eyes slightly widened at the unexpected reply before turning back to his usual cold ones and for a split second, he smirked underneath his mask, giving himself a mental pat on the back for the victorious attempt at finally asking her out on an official date.
"So um...can we talk about it some other time? Tomorrow I have to take Yuuji back to Miyagi." Misaki quietly questioned.
"Okay."
"...Okay."
"I'll go now." Sakusa mumbled as he twisted the door knob silently.
"Thank you," squeaked Misaki shyly, "especially for Yuuji."
"Sure."
"Goodnight, Sakusa."
"Yeah...goodnight, Yua-san."
Last night still lingered in Misaki's mind, from the time she spent laying in bed and the whole drive from Tokyo to Miyagi and back, their conversation never left her thoughts.
She was nervous to say the least.
She hung out with Sakusa a few times since she got back, but why was she nervous now? Is it because he declared it as a date? It was no different yet Misaki was anxious for some reason she can't quite point out.
She arrived back in her apartment 10 in the morning after taking Yuuji back to Miyagi and tiredly shuffled her way to her bedroom. She planned on spending the special day all to herself, that only she knew of.
Misaki gently took a picture frame on the nightstand as she sat on the bed. Her slender fingers grazed across the clean glass that was soon stained with a teardrop.
She found herself tearing up just by looking at the picture that held a beautiful yet painful moment that happened exactly five years ago. She laid on the head board of the bed, bringing the picture frame closer as she tried suppressing a small smile.
"You're now...f-five years old, baby." She whispered through tears, leaning close as she rested her forehead on the glass. "Happy birthday, Himari."
