Two months after their break up, it was then Sakusa realized how empty his life was without her. When he and Komori started college, he could care less about seeing the brunette around the school campus, meanwhile Komori, who desperately searched for her every corner of the large Tokyo university on the first day of school, went home feeling distraught by the end of the day to see no sign of her.
Komori only assumed that she decided to study at Kyoto University to avoid her ex. A month without a sign of the libero's brunette friend, he decided to visit Kyoto in hopes of seeing her there.
To his dismay, there was still no sign of Yua Misaki.
He decided to approach Tomoe, who now studies at a different university with her boyfriend. But the auburn-haired woman only avoided the topic of her bestfriend, feeling sorry for Komori who was only looking forward to seeing Misaki again.
The promise Tomoe made to Misaki not to tell anyone about her whereabouts lingered in her mind until the end of college.
The thoughts of 'Where could she be?' or 'If not Omi, she could atleast send me a message once in awhile' lingered in Komori's head until the end of college.
Sakusa was aware of Komori's search for his ex-girlfriend, but he didn't give even the slightest shit about it on the first month. He focused on volleyball and studies, and volleyball and studies only.
Until he felt as if something was missing. Sakusa realized the next few weeks what he was missing.
He missed waking up to 'Yoomi I made pancakes!', 'Yoomi how would you want your onigiri?', or 'Yoomi let's eat out for breakfast I'm too lazy to cook.'
He missed going home to, 'How's your day Yoomi?', 'Why the scowl? Did you go through a crowd?', or 'I've invited Mori-kun and Tomoe over for dinner!'.
He missed random conversations like: 'I'm planning on playing volleyball again', 'Come with me to the bookstore!', or 'Should we clean the apartment again?'.
There would also be times when Misaki just randomly asked him, "You're not gonna cheat on me, right?" with the pained look in her eyes. Sakusa missed reassuring her that he would never hurt her like what Rekai did.
She clouded the germaphobe's mind until the end of college, and during those years he tried texting and calling her, but there would be no reply. He tried searching for her, but she was nowhere in Japan (atleast that's what he thinks), even tried visiting her home back in Miyagi and hoped to find her there after all the places he looked.
He was only greeted by her parents and Yuuji, who he found the male and younger version of her running up to him the moment he stepped on the porch of the house.
"I'm sorry about what happened between you two, Kiyoomi." Her mother said with a sad smile.
"I should be the one who's sorry." Sakusa bowed.
"Why? She didn't tell me the reason why she broke up with you."
It still shocked Sakusa till this day that not only Misaki was lying, but she also told her parents that she was the one who dumped him instead.
"I'm sorry but I promised my daughter not to tell anyone as to where is she now, especially you, Kiyoomi." Her mother frowned along with an apologetic expression. "Good day, Kiyoomi."
Sakusa spent the next few years in college with empty feelings and regrets. He wanted her back, but even if he would tell her that, would she? After telling her that he doesn't love her anymore?
"Maybe you just got used to her loving you that you thought it was nothing anymore." Komori's words rang through his head 24/7.
And he can't help but admit that his cousin was awfully right.
