THIRD PERSON POINT OF VIEW"W-what?"
Confusion clouded Misaki's mind soon enough as she furrowed her eyebrows. As if she was hearing things, she watched as Atsumu plastered a wide grin and repeated.
"I said, will you be my girlfriend?"
"No— not that! I-I MEAN I HEARD YOU, it's just..." she breathed, laying her palms in front of her as she calmed down. "That was sudden, I was just shocked."
"Ah, I see."
Atsumu smacked her lips and nodded. Then he grinned again, eyes closed.
"So will you?"
And she knew she didn't have to second think her answer.
"Atsumu..."
She stepped closer, taking his cold hands in her warm hands as she cupped it loosely. The grin on Atsumu's face still didn't change as she continued talking.
"I...how do I start?"
"I..." Misaki cleared her throat, letting out a silent sigh. "I'm really grateful to have a friend like you, Atsumu. Really am." She smiled, bringing one hand up to cup his cheek. "And you're a great friend, a great teammate, and overall a great man.
"But Atsumu..."
"I'm sorry." Misaki breathed, feeling Atsumu tense for a second in her touch.
But even if I want to...
"We can't." She muttered.
Plus, this heart beats harder for a different man.
"I-I hope you understand." She swallowed a lump in her throat as she anxiously waited for his reply.
But Atsumu's grin didn't waver. Until a few seconds of silence have passed, Atsumu lets out a soft sigh, his eyes half-opened as he suppressed a soft smile. He brought a hand to cup her hand that held his cheek, gripping onto it tightly as he relaxed in her touch.
"You know, Micchi..." he started.
"I somehow expected this." Atsumu mumbled almost inaudibly, but just enough for Misaki to hear.
"What...do you mean?"
"It's Omi-kun, isn't it?"
The brunette's body stopped functioning for a second as her heart leapt out of her chest. Her eyes widened in shock as she stared at Atsumu with a petrified gaze. "H-how...?"
The blonde chuckled and shrugged. "Hell if I know?"
"Atsumu I don't know what—"
"Ah ta, ta, ta, ta~" Atsumu interrupted as he placed a finger on her lips. "No more denying it, Misaki. You still love Omi-kun...but he doesn't know that, does he?"
As the cool breeze of the calm evening atmosphere kissed her skin, she shuddered with a soft exhale. She lowered her hand from his face, feeling Atsumu squeezing it lightly that gave her a comforting reassurance that he was still there.
"Yes." Misaki gulped as she nervously bit the inside of her cheek. "He doesn't know that and I'm planning to let it stay like that."
Then she looked up, furrowing her eyebrows in confusion.
"If you knew that...then why are you still asking me to be your girlfriend?"
"There's no better time than now, right?" Atsumu softly replied. "I can't just wait for you to lose feelings for Omi because I know that's not gonna happen anytime soon. So might as well grab my 5% chance of you saying 'yes'...though I've always hoped for you to choose me...In fact, Micchi, I won't even mind if you'd date me to try to get over Omi.
