Chapter 18

"One of you should get married soon after your  twenty first birthday."

He remain passive and not even bothered by what their grandfather said. Even Clyde didn't bother to give any reaction to that. Hindi sa wala silang pakialam o sa hindi nila iniintindi ang sinabi ng lolo nila, but how they will do that if both of them are single?

"Pa, I know that it was always our tradition but these two isn't ready yet. I mean, they didn't even have someone they like. Hindi pa sila handa para sa kasal." Protesta ng ama nila.

"You've said the same thing eight years ago but look at Axel, he's a picture of a perfect father. " Sabi ng lolo nila.

"I can see that. But his marriage was a failure. Andrea and Axel was never became a match. Namatay si Andrea ng malungkot dahil hindi kayang tugunan ng anak ko ang pagmamahal niya." Malungkot na pahayag ng daddy nila.

They all knew that his brother was only forced to marry Andrea. Ang kuya Axel kasi nila ang unang lalaking apo and the elders wanted to see their grandson's first born only to get disappointed dahil babae ang naging anak ng kuya Axel nila.

Axel got married the day of his twenty first birthday because it was their family tradition that every man in the family should get married by the time they aged twenty one. At ngayon nga ay sila naman ni Clyde ang malapit ng magtwenty one.

"Dwight,"

He took a glance at his grandfather and arched one of his brows. Why him? Clyde's older than him. Well, ilang minuto lang naman but still, Clyde's older.

"Do you have someone you like?" He asked him which he answered by shrugging his shoulders. "Then, we'll fix your marriage with Amber."

"What?! Lolo, you know how much I like her!" Protesta ni Clyde sa tabi niya.

He was about to say something too but got distracted by his phone. Hindi na sana niya sasagutin kung hindi lang niya nakita kung sino ang caller niya. Instantly, an idea came up which made him smile.

He excuse himself. "Excuse me dad, 'lo, I just need to answer this call." Of course, he knew that they will disagree. "This importand call."

"We're on an important discusion, Dwight. Call whoever your caller is later." Their father commanded.

"I can't." He simply said before answering the call.

Rin's call.

Ilang araw din ba niyang hindi narinig ang boses ng dalaga? Pati ang itext ito ay hindi rin niya ginawa. Pi ipigilan niya ang sarili. He doesn't want to act like a real boyfriend to her because he was never her boyfriend.

Nang magpunta sila sa France dahil sa kagustuhan ng lolo niya ay ni hindi niya nagawang magsabi man lang kay Rin. Because again, he doesn't want to act like a real boyfriend to her.

He even ignores her text messages but read it everytime he opens his phone.

Dwight, kung nasan ka man, dyan ka nalang ha?

Mga text mesaages ni Rin na walang kakwenta kwenta but he still decided to keep it. Wala namang mawawala kung hindi niya buburahin.

And right now, he has to admit that he misses his girl. He misses Rin.

At parang sinasadya ng pagkakataon dahil kailangan niya ng escape goat. Not that he hates Amber that much, truth is, Amber is nice woman. They grew up in the same world with Clyde and he knew that she only like him because she wanted the chase. Isa pa, Clyde like her so damn much he looks stupid most of the time.

Ngayon nga ay mukang may balak ang lolo nila na ipares sa kanya si Amber. Mabuti nalang talaga at may isang Irinea ngayon sa buhay niya. They were the exact opposite but at least, they don't hate or like each other. They were like... buddies. Iyon nga lang, kung minsan ay nakakalimot siya tulad nalang ng minsang halikan niya ito sa mismong harap ng bahay nito. He knew very well na papagalitan ito kaya ng masiguro na niyang tulog na ang dalaga ay bumalik siya sa bahay ng mga ito para kausapin ang tatay nito. He only said his intention to her father ba sa huli ay napapayag rin niya sa gusto niya.

Nag usap sila ng tungkol kay Rin at nangako sa isa't isang sa kanila lang ang usapang iyon at walang dapat na makaalam. Kahit na mismong si Rin.

"I'm sorry but we have to," Rin ended the call but he decided to continue his sentence. "...make it fast. I can't wait for you to graduate. I'm sorry. I need to get married soon. I wanted you to become my bride if you will let me." He fakes a sigh. "Yeah. Let's talk later." Pagkukunwari niyang may kausap pa.

He saw Clyde smirks while his father and grandfather were staring at him with full of curiosity.

"What?" He snapped. "That's my girlfriend." Then he turned to his father. "Remember Rin? The one in the resto? That's her."

"Who is he talking about?" Anang lolo nila kay Clyde.

"That's his girl grandpa." Ani Clyde bago siya nginisihan na ginantihan rin niya ng ngisi. "They've been together for quite some time now and he's been hiding her to us ever since they got into a relationship." Pagsisinungaling ni Clyde. Of course, he'll do anything, everything to take Amber's name off his.

Tumayo ang lolo nila. "Then, I want to meet this girl, Dwight. Bring her here as soon as possible and I will decide if she deserves to become your wife. And if she doesn't deserves you, you and Amber will get married... soon." Deklara ng lolo nila bago tuloy tuloy na lumabas ng library kung saan naghihintay sa labas ang mga babae ng pamilya.

"Sorry grandpa I'm late." Humahangos pang sabi ng kuya Axel nila. Nagmuestra lang ang lolo nila na parang sinasabi lang na ayos lang na wala ito. "What happened? Sino ang nasentensyahan sa inyong dalawa?" Baling nito sa kanila bi Clyde.

"Siya." Turo ni Clyde sa kanya.

"Kanino ka kuya Dwight? Di ba pwedeng si Kuya Clyde nalang muna para mabawasan ang salbahe sa bahay?" Ani Eunice na mukang hindi masaya.

"Kanino anak?" Their mother asked him.

"Kay Amber, mom." Sagot niya.

"But grandpa gave him a choice and that is to bring his girl here." Singit ni Clyde na mukang masama na ang timpla.

"You have a girlfriend, Die?" Tanong naman ng ate Brianna nila.

"Ah..." singit ni Axel. "If I'm not mistaken, she was the "virgin pa ako" in the hospital." Sabay tawa nito bago binalingan ang parents nila at mga kapatid. "Mom, dad, Dwight finds his match. Remember the waitress on Monroe's? That was her."

Biglang nagningning ang mata ng mommy nila. Bakit hindi kung noong unang pagkakita palang nito kay Rin ay gusto na nitong kuhaning modelo si Rin.

"I would love to meet her again. Dwight, bring her here as soon as you can."

"I'll help." Ngiting ngiting sabi ni Clyde. MAy hidden agenda kasi.

Ang problema lang niya ngayon ay kung paano  mapapapayag si Run na sumama sa kanya lalo na at nasa ospital pa ang tatay nito.

At ang tanging naisagot lang niya sa ina ay isang alanganing, "Sure."
