Thor had left the second she had questioned her life. He hated the way she was using words as daggers on an unarmed man. There was nothing he could do, there was nothing anyone could do. Potions would only do more harm than good and his own words were only bound to further hurt them both. He was useless.

Nyx sat up in bed, the cold dull feeling coming back to her once Thor had left her alone. She grew restless and tired all at once. She was unable to hold herself up for more than a few minutes on her feet but she insisted on doing what she wanted. Nonetheless, she always came back to her bed where she would gently run her nose over the empty side of her bed's pillow and catch dim whiffs of Loki's head. She would trace her sharpened collarbone with a gentle finger trying to remember the feeling of his kiss on her neck. He was slowly disappearing.

He would eventually only be a fragment of her memory. She sat with his pillow in her lap and started from the beginning. That's when she remembered she couldn't remember much when Loki was brought to them. There was no memory of Frigga being pregnant or giving birth. There wasn't even a memory left from when she first met him. There must have been more. But there was none. Loki just seemed to exist with her. Like life was made up of his existence, like she only truly recognized life when he was with her.

But then the feeling of disgust came back for a moment, thinking of him as a brother. Thinking she was truly in love with her kin. Her intentions were unforgivable, but somehow Loki always made her feel just a little better about the situation because their blood was not of the same DNA and the feeling of his hand on her skin was a physical form of ecstasy.

Suddenly, a few memories of him came back to her all at once. They would have been the same height and weighed about the same when they were only a few years old and new to the world. She could remember walking beside their mother in the garden. There were many flowers surrounding them, Nyx felt like they had entered a completely different universe from the one inside the palace. Maybe that was why the concept of traveling to so many cosmos was so mundane to her now. Something as simple as a cascade of ivy and leaves felt so electric and extraordinary.

Frigga read to them that day. The story was gone, but playing within the flowerbeds with Thor and Loki weren't. Back then they lived their days in simpler clothing. Red and green satins clothed them with loose brown pants. Nyx of course did not wear pants but bore gold silk that went down to her pudgy ankles.

A memory of sneaking off into the outskirts of the forbidden forest was prominent in her mind. Loki had coaxed her to follow with eagerness. Nyx had of course snuck into the library and tried her best to learn a simple and temporary spell to cast on the guards they managed to get caught by.

They made it to the forest and picked fruits, strangely shaped fruits that tasted of the sweetest nectar, and interesting combinations that were not supplied by the trees and bushes in the town. Fuzzy fruits grew from the shortest of trees, not as sweet but tangy. Spikey pink fruit grew on the high branches they were unable to reach back then. Orange fruits were found in a strange splatter shape in the tall grass and gravel. When picked up, they solidified by physical contact and ripened before their eyes.

Everything was so new and simper back then. Emotions were simple, easily identified, not at all selfish, just curious.

Another memory of Thor finding victory over Loki, but never Nyx. He was always so quick to find diligence and self-righteousness as soon as he knocked his opponent to the ground. Nyx never found pride in winning, she just felt the need to prove herself. It was a constant feeling, but she knew she never had to prove herself to anyone. It was something to hold close and hidden. Women were in truth fierce fighters, but it wasn't always seen so easily. Nyx knew she was clever, but also knew others around her were too.
