Loki had watched as Nyx's body jerked and twisted out of Frigga's grasp. The blood had blackened nearly and he knew the worst was yet to come. He felt his heart shatter inside his chest, like the most delicate of a frosted snowflake to the touch of a human hand. He felt it crack, a sharp pain at the core of his beating heart. Then it completely shattered and he fell to his knees.
But in his most vulnerable state, he was most manipulative. He snapped. Smiling up, tears still in his eyes, he grinned in the most sinister of ways and left Frigga with the dying Goddess of Desire. He ran off, taking course for the Bifrost. There was chaos all around as he hopped off his horse and bolted for the controls of the observatory. The turret spun rapidly, flashes and sparks of light began before his eyes.
Thor found himself tattered, falling several feet. But the surge of the Bifrost seemed to awaken him. He spun Mjolnir and lifted himself into the air, pulling him through the sky and landing with a loud crash. Loki had quickly aimed the Bifrost directly at Jotunheim, trying to beat Thor to the controls.
"Jotunheim..." Thor sounded incredulous, seeing the cold bearings of the Jotuns home. Loki turned evilly and smirked, charging up the Bifrost through the Rainbow Bridge, colors from outside flooding inside.
"All these years, and no one's ever dared use it as a weapon" Loki chanted, the energy draining the heart of Asgard. Thor hurried to rip the controls from Loki but before he could, Loki had pulled Gungnir out from behind him, dripping in blood. The blast aimed right at Thor, pushed him across the floor, causing him to stagger to his feet.
Loki roared, Gungnir still pointed at Thor "You can't stop it! The Bifrost will built until it rips Jotunheim apart!"
"Why have you done this?" Thor felt helpless, but he refused to give up.
"To do what Father never could. To destroy their kind forever. When he awakens, he'll see the wisdom of what I've done!"
"He won't! You can't kill an entire race!" Thor fought.
"What is this newfound love for the Frost Giants? You, who would have killed them all with your bare hands" Loki grimaced, his eyes narrowing at the big blonde in front of him.
"I've changed" he softened, a flash of an image spreading across his vision.
"So have I" the words came out as acid but Thor internally cursed, seeing his shoulders slump, his mouth falling into a frown, his grip nearly falling from Gungnir. Thor noticed he difference. The facial features had fallen from something vengeful to one of solemn hurt.
Thor stepped closer, getting a few feet from Loki and watching with grief as his brother wrestled with an internally invisible source. Thor prepared to snatch Gungnir from his limp hands but Loki had snapped. He slapped the sword against Thor's chiseled cheek and spit "Fight me!"
He swung again but Thor reached out and caught the sword, slicing the inside of his palm. His hammer rearing up behind him, ready to return the blow. But surprisingly, took to the air and flied past Loki, towards the frozen controls in the observatory. Loki spun and aimed the sword at Thor angrily. He fired a blast of power through the air, immobilizing Thor for what seemed like minutes and in an instant he dropped the the ground.
"Is the throne really worth what you've done? What you would become?" Thor muttered through cold lips.
"I never wanted the throne" he cursed incredulously. "I only wanted to be your equal! Now fight me!" Thor didn't feel right. His stomach ached with those words because he knew this wasn't Loki, but whatever it was was working off of Loki's insecurities. The pain was the thought of making his brother despise him for something he never wanted. He never wanted the glory he got, he never expected to be born with purpose, he was so scared of messing up now. He never intended on hurting his beloved brother. Gungnir struck Thor again just as he began getting to his feet and fell again. He rose now, infuriated and turned to Loki.
