Chapter Three- Shadows
He was dancing in the rain, he felt alive, the water dripping down and soaking his clothes as the tall shadow took his hand, spinning him around. He was happy, smiling, heart beating faster as they swayed together.
This is where he belonged. In the dark silhouettes arms, spinning despite the splashing water on the concrete under them.
He may not have been able to see their features but he could feel the smile, the love, the warm arms around his waist bringing him closer. It was male, that was all he knew as he awoke with a whisper spoken into his soul.
                              "I'll come back to you."

Sitting in class, thinking about the previous night's dream he wondered, would he ever know who he was dreaming of? The shadow that held him close, pressed affection against his skin as they danced in the rain like they were the only ones left on earth. Heaven knew who they were. Yelling at the sky, screaming to the world, head up in the clouds, life was good in the dream.
Sometimes he would stay up all night, telling himself he's alright, music drowning him out and in his mind he was dancing with a ghost. The ghost of the silhouette.
His crimson eyes were blurry, out of focus, as he looked out the window to the cherry blossom trees blowing softly in the afternoon summer wind. It was without a doubt a male holding him close, he had no interests in girls and he never did. His mother knew that long before he did himself.
It was like they had run far away to a home they had both belonged to, a secret haven just right out in the open. In the rain. He held back a sigh, it was just a dream, a recurring one but still just a mere dream. One that faded throughout the day until it came back a few nights later.
The blonde was unaware of the male near him until a hand touched the small of his back hesitantly causing him to jump.
"The hell?!" He hissed only to see a forest of green and flecks of gold. He gulped at the closeness, carefully easing his walls back up in place around his heart and mind. The last thing he thought before his facade was back up was "Did his eyes always have gold in it?".
"Sorry." Midoriya grinned sheepishly, moving his arm back before tilting his head to the empty classroom. The classroom that Katsuki hadn't realized had emptied of its participants.
"Whatever." He rolled his eyes, standing up and getting ready to leave but a hand on his shoulder stopped him. He ground his teeth, hands balling into fists. With the facade came the anger, he was no longer calm or logical. Anger clouded his vision, like it was it's own separate person. Anger was Bakugou but it wasn't Katsuki.
"We need to see All Might, remember?" Izuku urged, voice quiet.
That caused Bakugou's shoulders to untense, fists unclenching as he nodded. He shrugged off the hand, not realizing the warmth left his body, more so focused on the chill that snuck back into his bones as he stepped forward.
                              The one exception.
The one exception stood behind him, unaware of his effect. Unaware of how much his presence mattered. Unaware.
Another word to hate, great. - He thought to himself dryly before nodding his head curtly. "Let's go, nerd. Don't want to keep All Might waiting for his precious child."
"Oh god, no. I already have enough with Todoroki calling me that, not you too." Izuku teased dramatically, trying to ease the unexplained tension around them. He could tell the blonde was upset but he wouldn't push the subject.
"Icyhot has a fucking point, for once, you're like the mans kid or some shit." Bakugou played along, letting the subject change with the aura around them as they made their way across the school's halls, the large windows causing Midoriya's shadow to climb it's way ahead of them along with Katsuki's.
The day was uneventful at best, even the visit to Toshinori was nothing special. It was a normal day in UA, though it was the first day of their last year and that caused some sad smiles that quickly got washed away as they promised to utilize their last year to the fullest.
Teens moved into their given dorms the week prior but some students were still moving their things in and saying goodbye to their parents after the summer break.
Most were surprised to see Midoriya's room less of an All Might convention, the walls having only one poster and his desk filled with only one action figure. The rest was put into storage.
Like all the years earlier they went on a rampage through the dorms and like all other years they had never gotten to see Katsuki's room. He didn't want them to. The only person allowed in was Eijirou and, sometimes, Mina.
They had seen the bare, stark grey walls, black bedspread and few frames on his desk. The neat stack of books and spotless greyish-white carpeted floors. It was like no one lived there with how pristine it was, how cold. They were never allowed to go in the drawers or the closet, he locked them both making sure no one ever saw what he held in them.
Kirishima knew too much already, as did Ashido. If they knew more Katsuki was basically giving them the knife to stab him in the back with. He didn't trust people often, he had reasons for that. One being that if you let people in you are giving them all the weapons to destroy you. The other being he didn't want to hurt if something bad happened to those around him.
He already had to deal with the repercussions when Izuku hurts himself, breaks his bones, and almost dies after fighting certain villains. Sure, it didn't happen often anymore but when it did it felt like someone stuck their hand through his ribcage, ripped out his cold beating heart and squeezed.
He cared more than the others thought, when Izuku was in the hospital he never visited but opted for eavesdropping on whatever he could to make sure the other was okay. The last death scare they had was about five months ago but everytime he heard Midoriya fought a villain he felt light headed, afraid that it would be the last time. Afraid that-
He scoffed, slamming his door as he arrived in his dorm after school. Screw that, screw him, he will never hurt the way Katsuki did. He felt like he lost his mind certain nights, crying on the floor of his bedroom, seeming more and more appealing. Hell, maybe he is too emotional.
Laughs heard crossing past his door.
Good for them, his classmates, getting better and better, having fun while he rotted in his own self loathing, sadness and insecurities. Not like they'd care to ask if he was okay.
They do ask, you brush them off. - Katsuki rolled his eyes, not even his own thoughts agreeing with his previous thoughts. He felt like he was going insane. What was wrong with him? He used to be just fine. He was a loud angry teenager, but now when he was alone he was depressing. It was like whiplash how fast his mood changed from being around others to being alone. Maybe it had to do with the walls he put around his heart, maybe it had side effects that bothered him. Like a medicine, they all have side effects. Lightheadedness, sleepiness, etc. Maybe the side effect of his protective walls was a drop.
A drop in emotion, sanity and feeling that occurred when alone. The neglect that he showed towards his emotions, the amount of lies that fell from his lips like a never ending mantra. It was no surprise he was getting hit by a whirlwind of emotions when left in solitary, he had nothing to distract him so the emotions hidden behind their heavily built walls pitter pattered out of their confinement to torment him till he left the confines of his personal prison.
When he tried to confide to his friends, with heavy censorship of course, they encouraged him that maybe he needed a lover. To go on one date, try it out. How they had gotten to that conclusion was beyond him, but Ashido insisted with Eijirou's approval.
Maybe they were right. Someone he could hold, someone to love. He could see the appeal. But when they had set him up on a dating app he had shut them down, disagreeing ever so harshly. He was forever unaware of his friends' thoughts (and actions) of doing it anyway.
He stared at the one and only window, the balcony window, bringing light into his room. He decided that night he'd once again sit by himself, talking to the moon, letting his thoughts haunt him.
                              What a fool.
