Chapter Thirty Three - Romeo²

Hope you know that

When the odds were against us two

Threw every doubt to the moon

So don't look back, no white flags

'Cause there never was a story more heroic

Than a man and his Romeo~

Izuku didn't plan on ranting. He wasn't going to complain, throw a fit about the way things had gone in the call with his mother but when Katsuki had dragged him on a walk through the snow he had so obsessively been looking at prior to the telephone rang... It was like the dam snapped in half, thin pieces of wood dropping and letting the water flood out.

It was becoming blatantly obvious to Bakugou when something was bugging Midoriya, he got this look in his features that became adamant. He was overthinking the conversation, redrawing up scenarios where he could have responded differently but always coming back to the same outcome. Katsuki found this new power quite the lifesaver since this overthinker of a hero could think himself to death.

Well, he had to tell the blonde about it anyway since he roped him in without his knowledge.

So, with not much protest but with a sour expression, he put on his jacket and let Katsuki shove him outside and into the frigid air. They huddled together, shoulder to shoulder with Izuku's hand going between them every now and then. The urge to hold his hand was unforgiving, it wouldn't leave him alone. Everytime he thought of it his fingers twitched, stirring the snowfall imperceptibly.

"Come on, talk to me." Bakugou murmured, tucking his chin into the scarf wound in orange fabric around his neck, the dark green bomber jacket he wore heavy around his shoulders but not doing much in regard to warmth. This wasn't his winter jacket, he hadn't gotten that out yet since it really should still be fall.

Let it be known that he was also more sensitive to cold air and that said jacket would usually be just fine to others in such a scenario.

"It's nothing." Midoriya assured, stalling for time and not at all affected by the weather in the way the blonde was. Where Katsuki was shivering, Izuku was fine with leaving his jacket open and letting the cool air lick up his sides, rippling his clothes with it's minute force.

"Bull."

"Always a pleasure, Kacchan, thank you." He responded dryly, red sneakers kicking at the soft tufts of snow that would soon turn into ice the next morning. Katsuki pushed him gently, slipping against a particular wet patch of pavement in the process. A small fit of laughter and a yelp fell upon them when Izuku caught them both and they crashed into one of the trees surrounding the path they had started walking through. The old oak didn't even budge, the small droplets of perspiration and somehow remaining leaves falling onto the two boys from the overhead branches.

Bakugou looked up, a small fond smile playing on his features. "Who catches the person who pushes them?"

"An amazing individual who tolerates bullies." Izuku teased back, his arms loosening their hold so they could right themselves. This time, though, Katsuki was catching on to every shift Midoriya gave and found himself grabbing his hand.

Unspoken agreements worked best until they figured out fully what they wanted. Though it seemed like they wanted the same things, maybe they just wanted time? How much time did they really have? At least until one of them broke and gave in first.
