Chapter Forty Six - Rain, Lightning, Thunder
I've got this shake in my legs
Shaking the thoughts from my head
But who put these waves in the door?
I crack and out I pour

He had called her hesitantly, not quite sure she'd pick up. After their little rendezvous at the courthouse she had become quiet on social media and her texts were quick and hurried as if she weren't quite ready or able to talk. He figured it was school as she had said, mid terms though it was pretty late in the year for it now.
While he was waiting, the line ringing in an inconsistent trill of musical chimes he looked out the window. It went from sunny and warm to a darkening sky, the weather still erratic and unstable. White wisps of cotton clouds seemed to dim gradually, the sun cowering beneath them as if it were playing a game of hide and seek with the inhabitants of earth. Faintly he could hear thunder begin to rumble, a low throaty sound that could have been close to a warning.
"Hello?" Her voice was faint, almost tired. It had a raspy edge to it, he could faintly hear thunder clapping on her side of the line.
"Hey." He replied, eyes tracing the lining of the trees that stood naked with their leaves stuck within the melting snow and ice that would probably get watered down or caked upon. Rain or snow, he pondered, probably hail.
"Izuku, darlin'" Her voice took on a southern lilt, teasing. Her tired tone slipped slightly into an excited one. "How may I help you, dear?"
"As much as you're good at that, drop the accent." He mused, eyes sharp and calculated as if he were looking at her and not at his own muddy reflection. His eyes were dark, hair a mess of curls atop his head and jaw tense, teeth clicking together now and then. He wondered when he had become so serious, his face resting in such a dark way. His eyebrows unfurrowed, the hard set of his lips loosening into a calm serene expression. He breathed in deeply, calming himself as he continued. "I talked to Kacchan a few nights ago about what happened with Mrs.Kamari."
"How'd he take it?" She asked, her voice seemingly far for a split second and a rustling sound accompanied her in the background.
"He said I have a hero complex and need to get my head outta my ass." He said bluntly, a snort of laughter came in reply and he chuckled as well. "He's not wrong, I know. Mrs.Kamari was right, he does hate being guarded like a princess."
"And yet you see him as your princess because you're blinded by love, adoration and tenacity. No matter what, you find yourself trying to protect him because the thought of anything happening to him makes you want to rip out the throats of many, am I right?" She reflected. Izuku felt his lips curve up in thought.
"Well yes, but that's besides the point, Scar."
"No there's a point to it, what I mean is that he probably made you promise not to shield him and you're sitting there tearing out your hair trying to stick to it." She paused, her voice seemingly light and contemplative. "You're going to keep that promise, I can tell, but it's gonna be hard for you. You like being protective over him, you like making it clear that if anyone messes with him they mess with you and you're finally noticing that Bakugou has a hard time dealing with that."
"I still don't get your point." His brows furrowed once more, in confusion this time.
"My point is that; I know you love him and you want to protect him but if you're calling me to go behind his back I'll personally kick your ass for him."
