When my eyes open once more, I find myself in the healing room, laying down on my front with my body covered by a blanket. I catch sight of my wrists which are almost fully healed, but I have no idea how long I have been in this room.

Ruth: "Anya, are you alright?"

Me: "How long have I been here?"

Ruth: "You were brought here a week ago. The healers thought it would be in your best interest if you were not awake for the healing process".

Me: "Is Sara alright?"

Ruth: "After all you went through, you are still more concerned about Sara than yourself?"

Me: "I made a choice that day and I stand by my decision. She is little more than a child and needed protection".

Ruth: "And who protects you, Anya?"

Me: "I do not need to be protected. I am stronger than I look" I smile weakly.

Ruth: "I am starting to realise that there is far more to you than meets the eye, Anya. The way you stood there staring into the eyes of the King, everyone noticed".

Me: "I am certain that the King is already thinking of a way to punish me for that".

Ruth: "Barely anyone has seen him since his argument with the Queen Mother".

Me: "What was said?"

Ruth: "She was disgusted with his cruel treatment of you, but before we could hear anything further we were all instructed to leave the throne room".

Me: "The Queen Mother is too kind, but she should not defy the King's wishes".

Ruth: "You are not angry with the King for his actions?"

Me: "If it were not for him then I would not be here with you now. I would most likely be in another realm suffering far worse treatment than this".

The very thought of that filled me with fear.

Me: "I was beaten daily on Jotunheim for being born different and I was always too powerless and weak to stop them. At least here on Asgard, I was able to defend someone as I wish someone had done for me".

Ruth: "She has been asking about you none stop as have many of the other servants. We have all been rather worried".

Me: "Tell them I am perfectly fine and I will be back on my feet in no time at all".

I would not wish to be kept in this room any longer than necessary. There are possibly others in far greater need of healing then I am at this moment.
