She quickly rises to her feet and walks towards me, taking in my features while she delicately moves my hair away from my face and inspects my face.

How could she possibly know who I am when I currently look this way?

Frigga: "I see my potion works quite well".

Me: "Your potion?"

Frigga: "Of course, dear. My son may be full of wisdom and magic, but never rely on him when it comes to the subject of potions".

Me: "You knew it was me the entire time?"

Frigga: "Yes, I have known the truth for some time now" she smiles.

A small part of me was relieved to hear this.

Me: "I do apologise for the intrusion, Queen Mother, but I was in need of air".

Frigga: "Something troubles you, my dear?"

Me: "I am afraid so".

Frigga: "Come, sit with me".

She gestures me over to a nearby bench and sits next to me, holding my hand as a mother would with her own child.

Frigga: "You may speak openly with me, Anya. Whatever is spoken shall remain between us, you have my word".

Me: "My head and my heart are at war, Queen Mother. I do not know which will be victorious".

Frigga: "You are in love?"

Me: "I am. Yet I fear the consequences of that love if he should dare to feel the same and return those affections".

Frigga: "What does your head tell you?"

Me: "That the love I feel is unrequited, unacceptable, unnatural and we can never truly be together".

Frigga: "And what does your heart tell you?"

Me: "That if Helbindi were to take me back to Jotunheim today, I would die fighting to return to him. I am his completely".

I rise from the bench and walk over the same flowers that share my mother's name, inhaling their scent deeply as tears begin falling from my eyes.

Me: "What if he does not feel the same?"

Frigga: "That makes him unworthy of you, Anya. Not the other way around".

She picks one of the flowers and places it in my hand while I wipe my tears away, smiling at her gratefully.

Frigga: "Azaleas are my favourite flowers. They are truly unique and beautiful".

Me: "They are my favourite also, but that is quite possibly due to the fact they also bear my mother's name" I tell her.

Frigga: "Your mother's name was Azalea?" she asks quickly.

Me: "Yes, Queen Mother. I dare say she was just as unique and beautiful as this flower".

Frigga: "We should go back inside, my dear. I believe it is almost time for dinner to be served".
