I wake up in the King's bed and gaze upon his handsome features as though I may never have the opportunity to look upon them again. I wished to memorise every detail.

He appears to be so at peace in this moment, that I do not wish to wake him as I know that his grief would surely continue if he were to do so.

My attempt to sneak away quietly from his bed is in vane however, when his arm constricts tightly around me.

Loki: "Stay" he groans in his half sleeping state.

Me: "I am leaving today".

Loki: "Were you going to leave without saying goodbye?"

Me: "Not this time, I promise".

Loki: "Perhaps I shall have you locked away in the dungeons so that you may never leave?"

Me: "Hilarious" I reply, unamused at his ridiculous idea and roll my eyes.

Loki: "If you insist on departing today then I wish to give you something before you go".

After he gets up from the bed, he walks over to his desk and begins rummaging through one of the drawers before pulling something out.

He passes me a satchel and upon opening it, I find that it is full of gold coins. Far more than I could ever possibly need.

Me: "I cannot accept this, Loki. It is far too much".

Loki: "I only wish to ensure that you are provided for".

Me: "I have a more than comfortable life on Earth already and I do not need any of this".

Loki: "Then consider it a gift".

Me: "Have I ever once asked you for anything?"

Loki: "Never, and that is why you deserve this".

Me: "You are still the most stubborn man I have ever met. Perhaps we could have breakfast together before I go?"

Loki: "Only if we eat in the library. There is something I wish to show you that I believe you will like".

After eating breakfast, the King and I wander though the library's endless rows of shelves before he finds the book he was seemingly searching for and pulls down.

Loki: "I want you to have this".

Me: "The Modern History of Alfheim?"

Loki: "Do you know of it?"

Me: "A little. It is said that the beings of that realm are fairer than the sun to look upon".

Loki: "That they are. Not easily mistaken for any other".

Me: "Why are you giving me this book?"

Loki: "I believe that you may find it somewhat enlightening".

Me: "Thank you, Loki" I tell him as I place a gentle kiss on his cheek.

Loki: "Would you truly have me wed the princess?"

Me: "As a former servant, I would not have the King of Asgard do anything. It was merely a suggestion" I laugh.

Loki: "I will be saddened to see you go".

Me: "At least I am not sneaking away in the dead of night. I can say goodbye properly this time".

Loki: "I should never have pushed you away all those years ago".

Me: "And I should never have allowed you to".

I wrap my arms around him tightly, not wanting to let go. He places a kiss on top of my head before I pull away and gaze into those beautiful green eyes I had loved so much.

His lips soon caress my own. Not lustfully, but in the same manner as our first kiss when we both feared that we would never see one another again.

Me: "Goodbye, Loki".

Loki: "It will never be goodbye for us, Valanya".
