Stay

Both having had quite a lot to drink by the time we decide to return, we sneak back through the palace and to his chambers as discreetly as possible under the cover of darkness.

Loki: "That was a good evening".

Me: "Is ale intended to make you feel slightly light headed?"

Loki: "In my experience, yes. You should stay here and rest until sunrise so no one will see you like this".

Me: "Of course. I will go retrieve some spare pillows and blankets to sleep on the floor".

Loki: "Do not be absurd, Valanya. You are more than welcome to sleep in the bed".

Me: "It would be highly inappropriate for a servant to share a bed with the King".

Loki: "You are not my servant tonight, Valanya. You are simply my friend".

Me: "Will you be displeased with me if I continue to say no?"

Loki: "Quite".

Me: "Have it your way, Loki" I sigh in defeat.

He dresses himself for bed then hands me one of his blacks shirt from his wardrobe for me to wear, then proceeds to help unbutton the back of my dress so that I may get changed quickly.

I cannot help but notice how he looks upon me while he helps pull the dress back up over my head.

He casually discards the beautiful dress over the back of a nearby chair, but his eyes venture down admiring the white revealing undergarments he had chosen for me to wear.

Me: "Is something wrong?" I query.

Loki: "Quite the opposite, Valanya" he replies to me.

I quickly put on his shirt, let my hair down and walk over to the bed where he soon follows.

Still warm from drinking far too much ale, I lay on top of the blankets whilst he lies under them, purposely facing my direction.

Loki: "Are you tired?"

Me: "It has been a long day and I do have to attend to my duties in a few short hours".

Loki: "What if I were to grant you a day of rest?"

Me: "Would that not be unfair to the other servants?"

Loki: "Still always thinking of others, aren't you?"

Me: "It is in my nature I suppose, well, my none Jotun half".

Loki: "It is an admirable quality in a princess".

Me: "But I am not a real princess" I laugh.

Loki: "If anyone deserves that title then it would be someone like you".

Me: "You are far too kind, Loki".

We lay there talking for hours while he tells me all about his childhood on Asgard, his brother and his father, rather than us falling asleep as originally intended, but I do not mind it.

Loki: "Were you truly happy when I won the competition?" he asks.

Me: "I was quite relieved, especially when I did not have to kiss anyone".

Loki: "What made you so certain that I would not kiss you after I won?"

Me: "I do not believe you think physical affection should won and that is why you only agreed to compete when Fandral attempted to claim me like a trophy".

He props himself up on one elbow so he is now looking down at me.

Loki: "What if I were to kiss you now?"

Me: "I would assume that you have drank too much ale as a King does not kiss his servants" I laugh at his ridiculous question.

Loki: "But you are not my servant this evening Valanya" he whispers and his face moves closer to mine.

Me: "What are you doing, Loki?" I question and move back away from him slightly.

Loki: "I wish to kiss you".

Me: "My King, we mustn't. That would not be proper".

I attempt to turn away but his delicate finger slips underneath my chin and turns my gaze back to him as he locks his eyes on mine.

Loki: "What is my name when you are in this form?"

Me: "Loki" I say hesitantly.

Loki: "You have always aimed to please me above all others?"

Me: "I have, Loki, but..."

Loki: "I would never do anything that you did not want me to".

Me: "Loki, I am not some princess or one of the many maidens you use for your pleasure" I tell him sternly.

I notice that it is getting light outside so I climb out of his bed, quickly getting dressed back into my uniform.

Loki: "Valanya, you cannot leave yet".

Me: "The only reason you wish to kiss me right now is because I look this way".

Loki: "You truly think me that vane?"

Me: "So in a few moments when the sun comes up and I transform, you would still desire to kiss me?"

He says nothing as the sun finally rises on Asgard, returning me to my true form. This only confirms my suspicions that he finds me repulsive as so many others have before.

Me: "I shall return to my quarters now, my King".
