CHAPTER FIFTY FOUR: HAPPINESS

"You look, better..."

I noticed the way he spoke the words at pati na 'rin ang mismong tono ng boses niya.

Playful, wait, no as if nang-aasar siya.

There's something weird about it, about his expression too.

Nanliit yung mga mata ko at tinitigaan siya nang mariin sabay kuha 'nung binigay niya sa'king mga dokyumento.

"What do you mean?" I asked, my eyes still focused on him.

"I heard na may sakit ka from your assistant, and he also visited you... from what I've heard," he said and then coughed, which was strange, again.

I took a deep breath at hinampas nang pag-kalakas lakas ang table niya, dahilan para mapatingin siya sa'kin in shock, in surprise.

"Do you have something to say to me? Or mang-aasar ka nanaman?" I spoke, escaping a big sigh out of my lips.

Wala akong ganang makipag-away sa kanya ngayon, especially na maganda ang araw ko today.

Wala na akong sakit at maayos na 'rin ang pakiramdam ko, it only took me two days to be free from this suffering.

And of course, I became focused instead on something else.

On what happened the day he visited me, and what... he had done... and what sounds came out of my own goddamn mouth.

Nakakahiya pa 'rin sa tuwing naaalala ko 'yung ginawa niya.

Umupo ako across his table at binuksan ang dokyumentong binigay niya sa'kin.

I think today is a good time to talk about the party that we're attending a day from now, the CREED party.

We need to talk about various reports at 'kung ano man ang posibleng i-aannounce ng mga Dixon for this party.

I was gonna start talking while reading the document when one report caught my attention.

No... it's not a report, it's a showbiz newspaper... and I can't believe na makikita ko si Ares sa mismong newspaper, but his face is blurred.

My eyes narrowed and wandered in the newspaper, for some reason, hindi ko alam 'kung may newspaper dito 'kung nasan si Ares.

"What is this newspaper?" I asked Quinten.

"A report from our family members, it's about Cardoza, and interestingly, it's about your boyfriend~" he teasingly said.

I want to curse at him pero I was too focused on what I was reading. It's about some businessman who's allegedly on a date with one of their top models.

That's what they're reporting about pero hindi siya ga'non ka importante so this paper seems to be on the last page of some newspaper.

I knew that it was Ares too, because of his shoulders, his proportions and just... alam ko! Basta alam ko na siya 'yon! Naiinis 'din ako sa sarili ko!

"He's not my boyfriend," I stood up and threw the newspaper in the trash bin.

Napasinghap ako for no reason, because of annoyance. Naiinis ako hindi dahil may kasamang babae si Ares, because of Quinten.
