*** Matt's POV ***

I regret volunteering to be the one to break the news to Trevor and Meredith because pretty much as soon as they finally get home after the long first day back, Trevor is in a mood about some project that isn't what he expected, and Meredith has a headache and only wants to lie down the rest of the night. Okay, no problem. Put it off to the next day.

The next day doesn't work out well either. Our schedules on Tuesdays are so opposite that I barely see either of them, and then they disappear into their bedroom as soon as they're home. I guess the "honeymoon" part of their engagement is still in full swing. Next day, then.

It ends up being Friday before I finally decide that it has to happen today, no matter what. Trevor's penchant for partying could mean trouble if Meredith still doesn't realize she might be pregnant. I couldn't bear it if she ends up having drinks at a party because I couldn't manage to get around to telling them something so important.

I won't lie, though. I'm nervous as hell. The possibility that the news might be devastating to their life plans weighs heavily on me. It's not like I'm responsible for it happening, but somehow it sort of feels like it. I know I need to just get it over with, though. It must be done.

So, Friday after I'm finished with classes and my other responsibilities for the day, I pretty much just camp out in the living room waiting for Trevor or Meredith to get home. Preferably both, but I've waited too long to have the luxury of being that picky. They need to know, one way or another.

Aly and Tyler head out to her dorm to prepare for her movie night, with some of the pack's warriors in tow of course. I'm a little worried because the best compromise she could manage with her dad was to take the female warriors and tell her dormies that they're her friends from back home. That means Marissa is with her, and I know how she feels about Marissa.

Mari's mood has improved some through the week as the poison has been clearing out of her body, though. We made a plan for her to mark us tomorrow night after our movie date, and Aly says it feels like she might actually be able to get it done this time. So, Mari has been more pleasant, but that doesn't mean that having to hang out with Marissa for a few hours is a good idea.

I push those worries aside when I finally hear the front door open, resolving to focus on one crisis at a time. That should be Trevor getting home, and now it's time to get this over with.

"Oh hey," he says quietly, dropping onto the couch as though all his energy has been drained from him.

He glances around the living room, probably looking for the warriors he's gotten used to seeing around all week. Noticing their absence, he asks, "How did you manage to slip your security detail?"

I laugh and shake my head before explaining, "They're in my bedroom watching a movie. I asked for a little space so I could talk to you."

"Oh," he says, seeming concerned. "Well, I'm here, but fair warning. I can't handle any more news or announcements. Today has already been too much."

"Everything okay?" I wonder, now worried about what else has been dumped on him today. This has been the worst week ever for delivering such a blow to him. Everyday has felt like the wrong time for it.

"Yeah," he sighs, and then shakes his head. "No. Not really. I finally convinced Mer to see a doctor about her stomach troubles. So, we went over to the student center where they ran a bunch of tests, and then we found out ..."

He pauses, a look of absolute devastation washing across his features. He looks like he's about to lose it, so I scoot closer to him and pull him in for a hug. He kind of collapses against me, shaking a bit. I think he might already know what I was about to tell him, and as I suspected, he isn't taking it well.
