Alright, so dedication goes to the wonderful aGirlthatLovestoRead, because she is a) not afraid to call out my spelling mistakes and b) she reads these author's notes which is awesome.
So, I hope you like this one, I'll be working on the next as much as I can.

"Is it a crush when you look at someone and you think they're funny and smart, but then they do something and you wonder how so much stupid could possibly be contained into one person?"
I turn to Terra, who's come up next to me, refusing to let me sulk over Owen's words for another day or two.
"What?" I ask blankly.
"Well I'd usually ask Coal -" she stops short as the name leaves her mouth. "Sorry." she says.
"No," I shake my head, hair becoming wet from the falling snow. "No, it's okay. What do you mean you'd usually ask Coal?"
She coughs. "He's like my brother."
"He talks to you?"
"I mean, I talked to him first. And I have to do it after he's been around you. Otherwise he's super quiet. But I just talk to him and he nods every few minutes and then says something philosophical in a sarcastic voice and then he nods again."
"Sounds like him." I force a laugh.
"You don't have to smile all the time." Terra says quietly. "At least, not with me."
I look at her; peering into the wind, uncut hair blowing across her face, mouth in a line.
"Thanks." I say, letting the plastered smile fall off my face. "So...I'm sorry, what did you ask?"
"Ah, nothing."
"No," I persist. "I want to know."
She looks at me with faint surprise. "I was just wondering if it counted as a crush if you got tingles all over when they talked to you, yet you still want to slap the stupid out of them half the time."
"I say that's love." I reply. "But I guess I'm really not the best person to be asking."
Terra chuckled lowly. "I took that into consideration before I came."
"So who -"
"Jensen!" Terra gasps, pointing into the distance.
My head spins to follow her gesture and then I see them.
I'm moving; sprinting like the adrenaline pumping through me is lightning instead. My vision focuses on the two figures, and I pick out my target. Maybe I'm overreacting; maybe I'm looking for a fight. Either way, the ice is up and zipping towards the tall, dark haired boy before too many thoughts can settle in my brain.
"Jensen!" I shout. "Get down!"
I don't wait for a reply, instead I rocket towards the winged kid with a wall of snow behind me. He ducks to the side, moving faster than I thought possible for someone of his size.
I spin out of the way as he lunges forward, but it's just a pseudo and then his wing swings around and jabs me in between my shoulder blades. The blow knocks the wind out of me and throws me into the snow.
