Chapter 45: Cracking

We made it back to the leaf, Kakashi went straight to the hospital, and I got scolded by Aunt Tsuna. She healed me.

I was bringing papers to her office, I went in, "Oh good you're here. Thank you for bringing the papers but we need to talk". I wasn't sure what she was going to say to me, I know I have not done anything wrong or too crazy. "Tsarina and I had a talk. I need to start preparing you for when the time comes. I can't risk you getting hurt, so you will be helping me run the village and with political affairs. When you go on high ranking missions, I will send an extra person. No buts. That's it. Do you understand", I hated being treated like this, I'm not helpless, I can do things on my own just fine. "Oh and that means less missions with team Kakashi, on that note, since Kakashi is recovering, another skilled jonin will take over and you will be having another new member in the squad" I wasn't pleased about that "What! Aunt Tsuna!! I understand why, but I don't like it. And If I don't then how do you think Naruto and Sakura will handle it!" I went to look out the window, "They will just have to deal with it, for their first mission together, you will not be going. I need you in the village to do other things" I sighed, "Fine, I'm going out for lunch" I opened the window and jumped out. "WAIT Y/N, WE ARE NOT DONE TALKING!!!" I heard Tsunade yell.

I didn't care, I needed some air and time to think. I was running and I didn't have a destination in mind, my feet led me to that hill, and Shikamaru was there with Asuma. "Umm, I'll go somewhere else", I was turning away, "No, Stay Y/n. Shikamaru is not in a talking mood today" Asuma said.

"When is he?" I said as I spun around, and went to sit next to Asuma. On the other side of him was Shikamaru, he looked the same as always, bored to death look on his face. "A penny for your thoughts my niece" Asuma said, I took a deep breath. "AUNT TSUNA AND GRAN ARE SO FRUSTRATING!!! Like I am grown!!!! I can defend myself. Like for fucks sake" ''Language" Asuma said and I looked at him, my eyes had a cold look, "As I was saying! And I can't even be with my team, she didn't say it like that but. I know damn well her and the old witch are being paranoid. And-" Asuma cut me off by covering my mouth. "Look down" and I did "Oh no" I mumbled, Shika opened his eyes.

There was a guy who was practically covered in gold, with a fancy carriage behind him, he looked my way and his servants went up the hill, "Princess Y/n" they said and they pulled me up, 'not this again and it is extra embarrassing since he is here' I thought.

I was dragged down hill, and I noticed an orchestra, when did they get here? The guy had red hair, blue eyes and fair skin. He had a prideful look on his face. "May I introduce you to Master Michael West, billionaire and son of Strove West and Lady Marina." said a butler. "My Princess Y/n you're more beautiful than they say" He said taking my hands, I was uncomfortable, every second of this was torture. I looked over to Asuma, he looked like he wanted to laugh. Shikamaru was angry? Why would he be mad, he isn't the one standing here getting embarrassed.

"Umm Thanks" I said, Michael laughed, "I see your not use to the flattery, well get use to it kitten since I'll shower you with love every day" I cringed at his comment, 'Oh please! not to be that girl but, I have enough of Takashi flattering me to the point he's a kiss ass, I don't need another!' I thought. "Now my darling Princess" he got down on one knee. 'Oh here it comes' I braced myself, I wanted the earth to swallow me or better yet someone kill me right now.

"Will you marry me Princess Y/n!" He said and I sighed, "No" and as I said that fireworks went off and cannons full of confetti as well. He was frozen in shock and I walked away. And he got up and followed, "WAIT WAIT WHAT!! But it was a perfect proposal. My mother is part of King Roberts's royal court, my father is a billionaire. What is there not to love about me!!!!" I was already on a short fuse "No thank you and I don't care. Now have a good day"

I walked away again and the guy then grabbed my wrist and pulled me towards him, I was going to smack him, then in a flash Shikamaru stood in front of me and the guy was on the floor. "The Princess said no. You and no one else can touch her like that. It's Assault. You're under arrest for putting her majesty the Princess in danger!" he was fuming, I had never seen this side of Shikamaru. He was being a little dramatic but it put a small smile on my face.

'Wait no! Bad Y/n you are not supposed to be like this' "Shikamaru, a little too extreme. Take Y/n home" Asuma said to him, "I'll take care of it kid" I nodded "Thanks uncle Asu" and Shikamaru walked back with me.

It was quiet, and it was slightly awkward but it was bearable. I then felt him slip his hand into mine. "What are you doing!?" I asked him, he looked at me, "We would always walk like this, why not now?" I didn't expect him to say that. "Fine," I mumbled. I somehow started to feel relaxed, it was a strange feeling. I was at peace? I looked over to him and he had loosen up, I felt the tension in my muscles go away.

I looked down, and I felt like I was 10 again, walking hand in hand throughout the village with him, running around. But now we are 15, slight strangers to each other since we hadn't seen each other or spoken to each other. But I can't cave in. I can't risk it. It's not worth it.

I hadn't noticed but we had made it to Aunt Tsuna's apartment. "So I'll see you around" Shikamaru said and he walked away. "Good bye" I whispered and I ran up the stairs, got my keys and opened the door, slammed it shut, and slid down to the floor. I felt my left hand, the one he was holding, it was warm, while the other was cold.

"No, you can't let your feelings take over! Stupid Itachi and his words ughh! Gosh, damn you Shikamaru!" I whispered
