Chapter 64: Everything is not what it seams

Shikaku's p.o.v

I trust my son wholeheartedly. He may be sixteen but I know he is mature for his age and I know he will make the right choices.

My calculations were off, apparently, my son becomes an absolute idiot when it comes to his feelings, specifically towards girls. He came home last night at two-thirty in the morning. Yoshino was fast asleep, I know this was a 'mission' but I expected him to come at midnight at the latest since Temari doesn't seem like the type to stay at those events.

"Here's your breakfast, and don't forget you have a meeting today at three" My wife placed the plate of food in front of me. "Thank you" I said to her and I heard Shikamaru walk down the hall "Shikamaru can you get me the newspaper!" and I took a sip of tea, as he walked in he looked at the front cover, and rolled his eyes. He placed it next to me, "I'm not so hungry right now, I'm gonna go train" and he stormed out of the room, "Well I'M NOT HEATING UP ANY MORE FOOD LATER!!!" Yoshino hollered.

I reached for the paper and it clicked in my head. He was jealous. The front cover was a picture of Y/n and one of the four sons of the feudal lord. 'PRINCE DAISUKE!!! HAS HE MADE A MOVE ON THE BEAUTIFUL LUNAR-LEAF PRINCESS Y/N!!!' was the headline. I sighed, let me put it like this, as a father figure to her, I know she'd never go for him, he is too hyper and makes too much trouble. I flipped to the next page. "Oh god forbid she sees this" I mumbled.

I kept a straight face since I knew my wife would kill Shikamaru if she saw this. The next headline was 'TEMARI OF THE SAND AND THE NARA BOY?!' and what made it worse, there were pictures of him going in to her hotel room. I sighed.

I put the paper to the side and ate my breakfast, I took my time. And after about fourtyfive minutes I decided to go outside to check on Shikamaru. I slid open the door, I knew he was stressed, he had taken off his shirt.

Choji and Ino, some time both of them had gotten here. They threw kunai at him and tried to attack him, he was going hard at it, I then heard a faint laugh come from down the street. I knew who it was but I heard other voices as well.

Y/n p.o.v

Kyoko, Yachi, Toru, and Daisuke decided to walk me back home. Last night was so much fun. I got to be a normal teenager. Basco had fancy tuna for the first time, his face was priceless. Since it was about four am, Daisuke gave us each a room to spend the night, we woke up at 8:30, I sent Basco back home after breakfast and he was grateful for the experience and his view on royals changed. We weren't always stuck up, it was just the rules we were forced to follow.

"So Y/n, why are we dropping you off here, this house, is small compared to your mother's house and I don't think this is your clan, unless if you engaged and didn't tell us" Toru said and that made me laugh "Oh god no! I like being free" I said and we heard a click noise and we all turned around and it was a photographer. "Fuck" I mumbled.

I could care less about getting my picture taken but, I was in Daisuke's shorts and t-shirt since Kyoko only were's dresses and Yachi is slimmer than me, I didn't want to wear a kimono so he gave me his clothes. You can see where this could be going. Like we both would look bad in the press, Daisuke's dad would kill him and my Grandmama would lock me in a tower till I'd be forced to marry someone or I could always be saved by a knight.

"HEY! DELETE THAT!" all of us yelled and we were gonna chase the guy but he was frozen. I looked behind me and it was Shikaku. "You need to be more careful" He said as he approached the man he caught in his jutsu. He took the memory card out and let go of the guy who ran for his life.

I said bye to my friends and walk inside the Nara compound, we made a left and we went in through the side gate door that led to the outdoor atrium, where usually me and Shika would do a light training session or play shogi under the roofed area. I made a right and there was Shikamaru training with Ino and Choji.

He seemed intensely concentrated but I knew something was off about him. I'll acknowledge it's most likely my fault, I am not exactly being transparent with him. I haven't told him anything or explained things to him. But I just want to wait a little while longer. I just want to keep him as far away from all this shady crap I have managed to put myself in. I'll be selfish like this, but at the end of the day, I just want no harm to come to those I love.

I then noticed the most obvious thing, the idiot had no shirt on and I got a clear look at his upper body. I felt my face go warm, like yes I knew he was fit, but I didn't know he was this fit or built. I felt some one nudge my arm "Your staring Y/n" Shikaku aid in a teasing tone and my face became hotter out of embarrassment. What the hell Y/n, you've been caught redhanded by his dad OMG this is embarrassing. I took a deep breath "No I'm observing, he has improved a lot" I said as if that was gonna cover it up.

"You helped a lot too. If it weren't for you being more crazy than you ma, you wouldn't be keeping him on his toes" I laughed a little and I noticed they finished, I noticed the water bottles next to me so I got up and gave it to them "Hey Y/n!!! I'd hug you but I'm all gross from training" Ino said as I have her a high five.

"What's with the outfit?" Choji asked me and Shikamaru looked angry. "Umm hello to you too angry Great Prince of the Forest" I said sarcastically, "I had a sleepover, Basco, my guard was trying to get over a girl, he bonded with the guys while me Kyoyo and Yachi just had girl time and Toru joined us" I said to them and Ino squealed "Wait as in Lord Toru!!!! He is so hot! I don't know how you haven't fallen for him" I lightly smacked her arm and to play along with her, "True but Daisuke" and we both started to laugh. I said my goodbyes to Choji and Ino and I went inside.

I decided to go to my room, I changed into my clothes and just relax and maybe take a nap since I was still tired.

It had to been at least 20 minutes. My door flew open and then it shut. I opened my eyes and I was met with brown ones.

"So how was your night with Temari? Hmmm, the pictures on the second page of the paper made it look like you had a good time" Oh yes I knew about this. I'm not that stupid. I let my guard down once, never again.

The anger or jealousy? I can never tell with Shika at this point. He pushed me over and layed down next to me "I was tired of standing up for hours and she offered tea" I threw my pillow in his face. "You know how easy it is to say No. No, N, O, no. And let me guess you think I like Daisuke. Well I don't but what if I did hmm" I said and I turned around giving him my back.

I felt him turn me over. "Your playing with fire Y/n" I rolled my eyes. "Oh wow is that supposed to make me nervous? Why the hell do you care if I went out with Daisuke? But hey, you never answer any of my ques-" He grabbed my wrists and fully pinned me down.

His eye's had a look on them that I'd never seen before. "I care. I care a whole damn lot women!", I hate that I'd pick this up from uncle's books but. I slowly lifted my knee and I hit jackpot if ya know what I mean, he froze for a second and I flipped him over and I was on top now.

"Checkmate" I whispered in his ear. I felt him grab my waist and he pulled me to his side, one arm arond me and he started to play with my hair. I looked at his face. I knew a lot of things were running though his head but he had a small subtle blush. "Ya know Shika, you look cute when flustered" I whispered. And digged my face in to his side so he couldn't see me.

"You too Princess", I smiled hearing that and I felt him play with my hair and I slowly started to fall asleep in his arms.

I felt safe with him, I felt at peace.

But little did I know, I was going to go through hell the next big mission I would get. It would scar me for life.  And all that progress would go down the drain.
