Chapter 38: Metamorphosis

It was my turn to be on lookout duty. Just me and the stars

It had been about a year, Naruto and I had gotten stronger, in more than one way.

I had detached myself from my emotions, I don't really feel anything when the enemy calls me a monster for my powers. Naruto is always so cheerful. Sometimes I envy it. He says one of his goals is to make me laugh more, I know that I am fine. I am perfectly fine. I don't need anyone. I can do this on my own. All alone, as it should be.

"A penny for your thoughts?" Jiraiya was up next to me. I let my hair cover my face and looked down. "I'm fine Uncle, just thinking how we have been getting stronger and in a month I'll be gone doing missions. I looked through the bingo book and in a bingo book the royal nations have made as well, some cases are connected surprisingly and I might go for those. Most of them want me, Tori, and Naruto. It's a risk, I'll take for everyone's safety" he lit his pipe and let out a puff of smoke. He handed me an empty wine flask, "I had a few sip's left. Don't be like your Aunt Tsuna, don't pick up the habit of drinking when it's tough. It took a long time for her to drop it. Now, I know you were planning on doing that but what were you really thinking about? You can't lie to me, lie to everyone else but I see right through you"

I clenched my fist and banged the tree, making all the leaves fall. "Oh so you're angry now?" My head felt like it was pounding and my chest felt tight, not in a nice way. "Maybe if you just talked about it then you wouldn't be suffer-" I got up and looked at him "SHUT UP, YOU DON'T KNOW ANYTHING, YOU STUPID OLD MAN!" I jumped down the tree and got my stuff.

"Hey Y/n what's wrong? Whoa, you're crying?" Naruto said. I touched my face and it felt wet, I wiped the 'tears' away. "You DON'T KNOW HOW THIS FEELS, I AM LEAVING. You did nothing, it's not your fault, its mine!" and I ran off into the night, heading for my first target on my list

Naruto's p.o.v

I woke up to hear yelling and now she's gone, I was going to put on my jacket and chase after her. "No Naruto don't!" Pervy sage yelled, he grabbed me by the arm pulling me back. "She's hurt, she is in pain, a pain you might know but hers is very different from yours. She is having an internal battle with herself." he sounded serious and concerned "BUT I can't just let her suffer, we have to do something, she is always there for all of us, even when we push her away! Why can't she understand we all love and care for her. She's like my sister and I feel useless if I can't do anything!" I pushed his hand off of me, he sighed, his face was serious.

"You know what happened Naruto, she's scared to let her guard down, the most we can do now is be at her side and let her know we'll be ready to listen when she wants to talk. She is changing, maturing in a way no child should but she has to. Everything will work out. She has us at her side, she will come back in a day or a week"

That still wasn't enough for me, I concentrated on the empathy link we shared, I could feel her pain, it's a feeling I knew but didn't at the same time. She was drowning. I need to get stronger to help save her. I can't let her end up like Sasuke.

I had made it to my destination

I was in the room already, which Kabuto had kindly escorted me to. The door opened and it revealed Orochimaru and next to him was Sasuke. He had changed a bit, taller, more muscular than before but his eyes had a darker look in them. He was shocked to see me, "What the hell, Imoto, why are you here?"

He was going to get closer to me but Orochimaru stopped him. "Sasuke, that's no way to greet our guest. My dear Y/n, welcome, so I see you're ready to talk." I raided my hand and stopped him from continuing "Wait. Let's make a deal. One, what happens here stays here. Two, I give you the full deep dive on my eyes and personal family jutsus, you give me all the information I need related to my family and what you know about my Parent's past. Plus a few criminals that I think you and I don't want alive. Three, me and Sasuke train together, I believe for him to fully reach his goal, he'll need to train with someone who can rival his eyes. Four, most importantly, I am willing to do three healing sessions with you in return for a potential future favor. I have a feeling that in my life I might need your knowledge of science. Those are my requests

He smiled and nodded, "Just like your mother, straight to the point. If that's all I have no problem but I do also request this, sanctuary in your nation, I have no fear of the leaf or any nation getting to me but I need another hideout. Oh and I know what you're thinking my dear, I am only doing this for your mom. I owed her a few things."

I knew there was something he wanted but it was nothing too bad so "We have a deal" and once I said that he left me alone with Sasuke.

Sasuke locked the door, and I sat down on one of the chairs, "What, scared some will see your soft side?" I felt arms around me, Sasuke hugging me? Well, that's a first?

"Dumb ass, I told you to never come near me, my path is different from yours!" He said while letting go and sitting next to me, I gave him a sarcastic look, "I know I'm different, but I don't mind getting my hands dirty or keeping secrets to get to my goal. I know Vox and Raven parted ways with Orochimaru. I know you probably had something to do with it as well. Now spill it."

Sasuke seemed amused at my seriousness, I then arched my eyebrow and he got scared, "He never like them from the beginning, Orochimaru is strange, the only person he seems to have an emotional attachment to is your mom, so for a fact he wanted to use them and then kill them. Raven and I hated each other, she was more annoying than Sakura. Good sparring partner but lacked a lot of things. Vox hated me for not 'reciprocating his daughters feelings' whatever that meant, tried killing her and Sparrow, he was more annoying than her. But as you know they got away" He looked annoyed while talking but relaxed at the end.

"So let me get this straight, you're going to be here and go back like nothing happened?" he said while poking my cheek, I smacked his hand away "Yeah and?" I looked at him, he stared into my soul, "You think Shikamaru won't find out, he can read you just as good as I can. Hey did you ever tell him that you lov-" I was about to smack him but he held my wrist, "SHUT UP, Look me and Shikamaru are done, there was nothing there to begin with. He is better off with Temari than me."

Sasuke looked concerned then went back to being stoic, "Last I checked you and him had the hots for each other. What the fuck happened?". I told myself to calm down. "People change Sasuke. You of all people should know what that's like". I got out of his grip and walked back to the door, unlocking it, "Let's go train, we got a week, then I go back to somewhere, I'll then return in a month" he nodded and we left for the training room.

I knew this was wrong but I am willing to get my hands dirty.
