Chapter 31: Dinner with a bit of spice

Shikamaru's p.o.v

For the rest of the day, I accompanied Y/n and the rest of the royals, Asuma came up to me and told me that If I went to the dinner, I would have the next morning off, and I said yes since that meant, I would be able to sleep in, take my time, and watch the clouds, a nice slow morning, just how I like it.

I was changing back into my ninja clothes, Y/n said I could where that, the dinner was meant to be 'casual' whatever that meant in their language. Someone knocked on my door, "Come in" and there was Lilac, Y/n favorite maid. "Hey Lilac, what can I do for you?" "Y/n is ready, she is in her room putting on her jewels, she is ready for you to escort her" I nodded but just before I left she grabbed me by the arm softly "Shikamaru, I trust you know how the young prince is, so if he tries anything too drastic, I trust that you will step in" she said in a low tone, "I will" and so I left my room, walked down the halls, and I knew I was close to her room since where the royal's sleep, there are more guards walking around, I made a left and went down that hall, I was in front of the two big white doors, I knocked "Come in" she said, I opened up the doors, and closed it once I was in "Hey Y/n Lilac said that y-" I saw her, she looked wow.

The dress was green with an undertone of teal, the upper body part was green with gold designs, the sleeves were drapey but they looked good, gold simple tiara, a necklace that was silver, and her usual bracelet. Wait how the heck do I know all those words, Tori was rubbing off on me

"Umm do I look good? Your staring, is it okay. Ugh, I knew I should have not worn this" I walked up to her as she went on and on about how she thinks it too much, I held her hands, and she stopped talking, "You look wow Y/n, it's perfect. It's more than perfect, how is this casual to you, you look really really good" my face got hot and she looked away and blushed a little, she was taken back at what I had said, she smiled at me, "I guess I do look good since you still have that big smile on your face" I was going to make a snarky come back but I looked at the time, "You are late by 15 minutes" I told her as we exited her room

As we walked through the halls, we were taking our sweet time to get to the smaller dining room since it was a private dinner. About five minutes of walking passed. And I opened the door for her and we went in, everyone else had made it, "Late as usual" Silver said and got up before Takashi could. He went and met us at the middle of the room, and took Y/n's hand and he walked her towards her chair, "Thank you Silver" she said as she sat down. "Any time", Tori took a sip of water then said "A Queen or in this case, a Princess is never late, everyone else is just simply early as my Mother use to say". I noticed the setting arrangement.

It was a round table, Takashi, Y/n, Silver, Lady Mia, Robert, Tori, Hayasaka, Duke Kasuka, Catherine, Viscountess Helena, and Duke Yuuhei. You could see everyone was well aware of the elephant in the room, being Takashi's intentions and me being there as her guard. I knew for a fact, everyone at that table had a goal for the night.

We were 1 hour and 35 minutes into the dinner and I swear Takashi got closer to me by 9 inches, the chairs are about 14 inches away from each other. He had complimented me 25 times tonight and flirted so far 30.
