Chapter 50: Presenting Princess Y/n M/n Mito L/n Senju

Y/n p.o.v

It was the day of the debutante ball, I had made it to the location, we were late, as usual, "Your late Princess Y/n, go up the main hall stairs and go to the right!" One of the coordinators said to me. I hugged Tori goodbye and sent her to go be with Grandmama, Shikamaru and Shikaku will arrive in a while.

I went up and made it to the room full of girls, there were about 50 vanity's and next to them a door (changing room), and each vanity was about ten feet apart. "The girls who came early got the lighted one, said another coordinator who was at the door" I realized that these people didn't recognize me and I was very happy about that. I went and sat down at my vanity, I was waiting for Lilac to come, next to me, a girl was getting her hair done, and she looked as if she was in deep thought. Then she turned to me "Hey what do you think of these two reds?" she showed the lipsticks to me and I am embarrassed to admit I know the difference between both "I am never going to be ready in time, only the gods know if the swelling under my eyes will go down in time, I had to go and inherit my mothers under eyes. I'm Lisa by the way" she said, "I'm Y-" she cut me off and looked at the lipsticks then at me "One is red red and the other is orange red, I pick the wrong one and I end up looking like a teacher or a hooker" She said panicked "Yeah" I don't care, the look the same to every one else "The two minutes you stand on those stairs, will determine the social status for the rest of your life" Lisa continued, "Wow" I said unamused and Lilac came in time to do my hair and makeup. She came in and did it in a flash then helped me change in to a cotton ball.

I cam out with 10 minutes to spare. Lisa was already done and she came up to me, you want some, and she offered me booze, I rejected it, and we just started to talk, "This is my fifth coming out ball this year, you know people say that 4 out of 5 deb's marry their escorts, figured that one of them has to stick" I was confused and she might as well be drunk. "So is your escort the one?" she asked "What?" I was not expecting that "The one your gonna marry?" "What!" "Is he cute?" she asked, "Well um I think so?" "Where are you guys planing to live when you get married?" she asked very excitedly. "Wait hold up!" she looked to the side, "Oh Katie come with me your face is messed up" and Lisa left me dumbfounded.

"Ladies time to line up, Y/n your at the end" said on of the coordinator's. All the girls went out to line up and meet their dad's. I went to the back, and Once I got there, Shikamaru was standing there. "Hi, I just wanted to see you" he said and I laughed "I know Tsarina keeps saying aster today I'll be a proper lady of high society, but I can promise you nothing much will change, hey your staring is it that bad?" he smiled "No no, it's not, you just look like a cute cotton ball". Did I just hear him right? I saw Lisa come up to us and she smiled, "Oh my gods, your both so end game. I see marriage in the future!" she said and walked away leaving a very confused Shikamaru. "Marriage?" he looked at me and I knew he was going to ask something but Shikaku came, "Wow you look nice!" I said to him, "I should be saying that to you" he said, "You look lovely Y/n, just like your mother, gosh this brings back memories of when she just started dating your dad officially and had to go to an event, she dragged me along and put me in a suit, similar to the one I have on now. The Tiara makes it more real, you really are growing up" I smiled at him, this is the soft side that no one gets to really see from him, "Shikamaru, stop staring and go to your spot in the ball room and wait for your cue!" and he left but he winked at me.

As we got closer to the archway, me and Shikaku linked arms, I felt nervous, I don't exactly care for things like this but, I knew it was important to Tori, she was 100x more invested in this then I was. And if we are going with tradition, I can't mess up. I go down these stairs, I am the example to her, plus if I do good, every one will talk good about her and expect only the best and better. "You'll be alright kid" Shikaku said to me, I took a deep breath "Just don't let me fall" and it was my turn next.

Y/n and Shikaku came into sight, the crowd of royals awed at her beauty, and the girls already in formation who were up in the room with her minutes ago, realized who she was, the soft music played in the background but once they stepped down the first step. Trumpets went off, "Presenting Her Royal Highness Queen Y/n M/n Mito L/n Senju. Daughter of King Riker Richard Renne L/n and Queen Rebecca L/n Senju. Guardian Shikaku Nara". They announced her as queen, her future title. Y/n gracefully glided down the stairs, she was nervous but she looked down at the very bottom and there was Shikamaru waiting for her, her knight in shining armor. She felt relaxed and at ease.

Shikamaru was down there looking up at a girl he'd grew up with, seeing her almost every day, yes she always looked beautiful but, tonight was different, Shikamaru didn't know how to describe it but a girl who was looking up above from the only royal balcony knew how to.

"Magical" Tori whispered, "She looks so pretty" Naruto and Sakura said, they were invited as guest but also to keep an eye on Tori.

Y/n reached the bottom with Shikaku at her side, he kissed her hand and took a step back and slowly walked away. All eye's were on her and she bowed down as a sign of respect to the people, Shikamaru then walked up to her, bowed down as a sign of respect to her, and took her hand. Y/n and Shikamaru looked the happiest they've ever been.

Tori smiled from where she was, she moved to another balcony, were a cloaked figure was, "So you did make it?" the hood came off, it was Itachi, "I wouldn't miss it for the world" he said as he picked up Tori so she could get a better view. "The man you go to cotillion with, your practically announcing and declaring, your love to him in front of the whole world. It's your pre pre engagement, this rule only applies to head royals. They're bound to be together for life, ahhh how romantic" sighed the 11 year old.

Shikamaru had escorted her to the center of the room with the rest of the girls, people were muttering and trying to figure out who this pineapple head boy was and why did he go with the Princess.

As the fan dance started, Shikamaru looked up to the northern balcony and Tori was there by herself on a chair with a big smile. Shikamaru looked back at Y/n, his heart started to race, but he didn't care, although she can say she hates events like this, while doing the stupid fan dance, she seams like she is having fun, and that's enough to make him happy.

Once the girls finish the group dance, there Fathers come and they have a dance, Y/n goes in the middle as she is the one with the highest title and is the richest right now. She gracefully dances not missing one step. Then all the girls move and it's just Shikaku and Y/n dancing and the spot light is on them. Tori pushes the person playing piano "Not today, my ship must have a moment!" she whispers she looks to the orchestra "Howls moving castle please"

"Excuse me sir, may I have a dance with the Princess?" Shikamaru asks, Shikaku looks at his son, although he is scripted to ask, he can tell he genuinely means it. "Alright, take care of her" and once Shikamaru takes Y/n's hand, the violins join the piano. "Do you trust me?" Shikamaru whispers to a very nervous Y/n, "Always" she answers.

They start to waltz, never missing a step, graceful and it seams as if there flying. To them it's as if they were the only two people in the room. When there 2 minutes into dancing the rest of the girls and their escorts join in and slowly throughout the song it becomes a fast paced waltz.

At the end of it, Shikamaru looks at Y/n, she has the biggest smile in the world, 'I swear I'll always try to make you happy' he tells him self. Y/n's eye's met his, and she lets her self go for a second and it clicks in her head
