"Scott speaking," I said answering the call while I slide inside the driver seat of my Maserati. It's my First day of work after returning from Dubai.
'Theoden here,' I heard Theoden's voice through my car speakers.
"Oh hey Ted,"
'Yeah, So I- one minute, Ted? Seriously Ted? You couldn't find any other nickname?' I could imagine him frowning right now.
I chuckle, "I could call you Ten or Teddy,"
'No no Ted is fine'
I laughed, "Anyways what's up?"
'Oh yeah, I've got some important work so I won't be able to train Kayden for a month and I know he has told you about it so could you do it first?'
"Uh, sure I guess," I frowned while pulling my car to the main road, "when should it start?"
'Today.'
"Today?" I swear, If I was drinking some liquid right now I would've choked.
'Yeah... we need to get over his training as soon as possible, you know.'
"Okay, Damn. I haven't thought if any way to train him, dude."
'You'll think of something, I know you,' He said, 'Anyways now bye. Got work to do.' He hangs up the call while I start wondering how do I train him. Plus he's starting from today!
I quickly contact my assistant and convey the following message: "Please be informed that Kayden McCoy will be arriving at the company shortly. Kindly notify the security team to contact you directly when Mr. McCoy arrives. I request that you personally escort him using my private parking lot and lift. It is imperative that no one is aware of his presence here."
'yes ma'am.' Immediately afterward, I reach out to my secretary, clearly conveying my instructions. "Please make the necessary arrangements to schedule a meeting with all the heads of the department at the earliest available time within my free schedule. Additionally, I kindly request that you keep most of my schedule free for the day."
"Fuck," I mutter in frustration as I find myself trapped in the relentless traffic of Los Angeles. My irritation is mounting, and it's understandable given the circumstances. You see, I've just received the news that I will be assigned as a mentor to a student, who also happens to be my ex-boyfriend—the person I still have feelings for.
Will I be able to concentrate on my work?
Well, I would've too. It's something I've passion for.
As soon as the traffic cleared, a surge of adrenaline rushed through me, and without hesitation, I accelerated, swiftly maneuvering my car past each vehicle in my path. It had been far too long since I had the opportunity to drive at such exhilarating speeds, and in that moment, I embraced the freedom and exhilaration of the open road.
