(WARNING: You may receive second hand embarrassment, because like, same.)
After finishing with catching up on the chapters that I had missed from not only when I slept through the classes but also from Friday, the day that I didn't come to school, we walked around until we came across a secluded bench where we could finish off our conversation.
I wasn't quite sure what they wanted me to say so that resulted in my sitting on the chair as the boys surrounding me as if they were interrogating me, which I guess is what they were doing. "Start from the beginning." Radley ordered.
"What beginning?" The beginning could mean so many things. I don't have any stories from when I was born but I could talk about high school, now that was eventful.
"How you met that guy."
"I can trust you guys, right?" I would probably tell them either way, after all it would be three against one, and I may be a trained assassin, but they were mafia men, and I wasn't that good.
Maddox looked at me as if I had said the dumbest question in the world, although I thought it was vital for the conversation we were about to have. "We told you about us. You can trust us."
"You also, kind of, sort of, told my boss and you just-"
"Blythe. The beginning." Radley interrupted. I huffed at his words as my hope for trying to avoid the conversation as much as possible was slowing going down.
"Fine, but if you end up killing me, don't tell them that I gave in this quickly, at least make it seem like I put a fight." The three men weren't amused by my words at all, making the air around us tense. "He found me on the streets when I was about eighteen, so two years ago. Well, I guess I sort of found him." I thought back about the situation I was in when I first met the man I would call my boss. "He was doing a job and for some reason he decided to take me under his wing and teach me everything you need to know about being an-" I paused for the dramatic affect. "Assassin."
"So, you kill people?" Maddox asked.
"Don't you guys?" I replied in a defensive tone.
"We're not judging, just making sure everything is clear. We want to know how to keep you safe." I felt butterflies at Radley's words. Something about three men protecting me at all costs made me feel a type of way, but I was also conflicted with being a strong independent woman, who didn't need a man.
"With all due respect, I don't need be looked after, I've done pretty well in my life on my own."
"The Mafia is after you, Blythe, and it's because of us. We can't let you get hurt, not only because it's our fault in the first place, but because we care about you. I thought we established that when we last spoke, or at least Ashton did." Maddox sent his friend a teasing smirk to which Ashton smacked him in the back of the head.
