POV: Hayley

"I want to keep myself a secret and you want me to openly expose my identity? And that too for what? Your fucking gang?? You've got to be kidding me." I scoffed and stood up and walked out of the kitchen.

I almost made my way out when he grabbed my arm then took me to his study. "Donato-" I said, trying to free myself. We stopped once we were inside. He left my arm and shut the door.

"Sit" He commanded again. I was done now. I just stood near the chair and glared at him. He eye-rolled and pushed me a little, making me sit. I groaned from the push.

"What is this even about now?" I asked, being irritated. I, honestly, didn't expect this offer. As far as I read it, it said that I will have to work under the gang rules, to continue to live in New York.

"You read the contract, this is about you." He said, in a cold and direct tone and walked to the table. He came back and handed me another file. I took and opened it and started reading it.

"I tried translating your document but I couldn't because you have mixed languages." I let out a sigh and put the file down on the table.

"I made it difficult to translate for the same reason." I glared at him. "You really had the audacity to even go through it." I rolled my eyes.

POV: Donato

"But from what I know, you are in some deep mess, for murder...?" I sat down on the chair and watched her as slight panic washed over her face. She didn't take off her eyes from me, instead started rubbing her palms together.

I stared at her as she let out a sigh.

"How does this explain you wanting me to work for YOUR gang?" She asked, still putting up the strong face but I could sense the fear in her voice.

"I told you, you intrigue me and I want to know all that you have or had." I stood up and walked behind her chair and leaned into her neck. "Keep yourself and your information safe by working here."

"Are you trying to blackmail me into saying yes?"

"You said it, I didn't, Hayley. You have till tomorrow to give me an answer."  She clenched her jaw, maybe because of her thoughts or my words.

I walked out of the room and told the maid to get my food to my room, then went to my room.

I may have made this deal for the sake of my personal curiosity but I don't see a harm in keeping her. I will just have to deal with Ezio in the morning because I know he will question this for some odd reason.

POV: Hayley

I went back to my room, taking my dinner plate with me. I was considering his offer. Blame my upbringing, I was always taught to consider my options and what I can benefit from. I ate dinner and put the plate on the coffee table.

I was in the mood for a long shower now, to give myself time to think it all out.  I never thought I would end up with this type of offer again. I have had gangs try to make me work for them before when I used to work full time as an assassin.

Mafia gangs benefit when they have personal professional assassins because their payment is less, they are easily available and their loyalty is almost guaranteed.

Almost.

If a gang hires an assassin or a bounty hunter for every person they want to be killed, it takes up more time and more money. Plus the gang leader doesn't have control over the assassin so they still would have to pay him/her if he/she didn't kill the target.
