POV: Jewel
"Yeah, she is fine," I told Hunter about Raelyn. "Her fever broke and I got the medications here with me."
"That's good." He replied. "We have put Hayley in the hospital. All of us are just being here.""How's she?" I asked, putting Rae in her crib and rocking her.
"All Dona told me was that she will have to abort." I sighed at his words. "I couldn't ask him anything else.""It's ok, Sherrif. Let him process it." I said and sat on the couch. "Can I go back to the mansion?"
"Yeah, go back. I'm also coming there." He said. I said ok and hung up.POV: Donato.
"I'm going back to the mansion for some time. Dimitri and a few men are coming with me." Hunter said, putting his phone back in his pocket. It had been almost two hours since we came here.
"Send me a change of clothes then," I said, holding Hayley's medical reports. "And Xavier...who's guarding him?""All his men are dead, we've taken his cell phone and he is in Warehouse 6." He said. "I put 10 extra men to guard him." I nodded.
"I think I'll stay the night here," I said to him. He nodded and then left.I felt someone sit beside me and I turned to face him. Suleiman took the reports from my hand. "How's she?"
"Sleeping it off," I answered him. I watched him for a second as he nodded. I wondered what had changed in him.He was not the Suleiman I met in Italy. "Why were you so eager to kill Tissaia?" I blurted out.
"I need a reason to kill now?" He questioned.
"Sometimes you do."I wanted an answer. He was more helpful than his nature. "Two years ago, Tissaia killed someone who I adored." I was amazed. Suleiman was not the type of man to ever admit he liked something.
"You don't have a wife, right?" He nodded a no.
"Had a ragazza (girl). One worker of mine." He said. "Had a kid with her, a son. Because of Tissaia, my son doesn't have a mother."I nodded, understanding his situation. "When did you find her? You found her before me."
"She bought from a local dealer. My spies caught her and told me." He answered in a direct tone.A silence followed us. "I heard Hayley's gotta abort." He said, breaking the silence. I nodded, staring at the floor. He left me alone without saying anything else. I sighed and went into the room to check up on her.
Martha stood beside the bed and I walked up to her. "Any progress-" I stopped, taking a look at her laying awake, staring at the glucose drip. Her eyes moved to my face.
"I'll leave you two," Martha said, walking out of the room.I couldn't even articulate how I felt. A part of me was happy she was awake, another part sad that she laid there emotionless. Most of me were afraid. Afraid of telling her about the abortion? I sat beside her on the bed and held her hand.
"How are you feeling?"
"I feel like I'm being choked." She said and my eyes fell to her neck which was covered in those belt marks.
"You're not. We have Xavier in captivity. It's over." I rubbed my thumb on her palm. She didn't speak another word. I sat there, watching a wave of emotion pass her. Her expression changed to sadness. Trauma. Tears now rolled down her cheek and I found myself wiping them away.
"You won't lie to me, would you?" She spoke in a deep voice as I cupped her face. I nodded my head in no. "Am I still pregnant?"
Her words cut right through my chest. This was supposed to be a normal question but filled me with so much emotion. It felt like I was being choked now.
"For now." A cry left her mouth and she looked away from me. She sobbed quietly and I pulled her in a hug. I let her cry as much as she was capable of now. If she had any tears left, she wouldn't be able to consent to abort it.
