POV: Donato
"What does this mean tho?" Jewel asked me, unfolding the piece of paper. I looked at Hunter waiting for an answer. he just stared at that chit, looking stressed.
"Let me see," I said and took the chit from Jewel. I read it out loud. "Mi dispiace, non ti abbiamo aspettato, Armani.(Sorry, we didn't wait for you, Armani.)" I was stunned and just looked up at Hunter. "Where did you find this?" I asked.
"What does it mean tho?" Jewel asked, yet again.
"It says 'we didn't wait for you, Armani'," I said, still staring at Hunter.POV: Hunter
"They found it in the Kennel...along with some chains and steel handcuffs..." I said, in a low tone, almost whispering. I was not ready for his reaction to this.
"Chains..." He whispered in a sarcastic tone. "ARE YOU FUCKING TELLING ME THEY KEPT HER IN FUCKING CHAINS, HUNTER?! WHAT THE FUCK?!" He suddenly screamed at me."Jewel, if you please," I said, telling her to leave us. She sighed and walked out of the cabin. Donato tore apart the chit and threw it on the floor.
"Fuck!?!" He grunted and smashed his hand on the table."Do you know who could have left the note?" I asked.
"Xavier doesn't speak Italian, he hardly has someone who speaks Italian other than Tissaia!!" He sounded irritated. I nodded and sighed."What else did you find?" He asked me, still not facing me.
"Nothing else...the place was wiped clean."
"She wouldn't leave that chit if they meant to leave nothing. She left it by choice, for us." He responded to me.I nodded a yes. "I think we should send this chit to The Eagle...ask for his spies again," I said.
"You're right." He said and took out his phone. My eyes dropped to the half-open laptop.I opened it and it opened an email. "What is this?" I asked.
"About that...read it. I don't even know where to start explaining." He said and sat on the couch, doing something on his phone.POV: Donato.
I sent a photo of the chit to Richard (The Eagle). He saw it and wrote:-
"Let's meet up tomorrow. I think I have an idea of who can help us.""Ok." I wrote back. "Hotel or mansion?" I asked, finalizing the meet-up.
"You own hotels, right? Let's meet at one." He answered.
"Fine. 10:00 am. Rosa in Fiore, Cobble Hill." I said and put my phone down.I saw Hunter reading the email and then staring at me, blank-faced. "The fuck was this?" He asked.
"My words exactly," I said and sniffed.
"Hayley did not tell us this-I-MARCUS' DAUGHTER?!" He clamored."If she knew, she would tell me." I sighed. "We need to get her, this is a lot more complex than I expected." He nodded.
"What about Xavier's sister...I don't understand." He claimed."His sister was never his sister...Xavier wasn't Marcus' son." I explained. "Bring Randyll's daughter and wife here. Let them all meet under our eyes."
"But-"
"Hunter...it's fine. Randyll won't be left alive, let them meet. Have two men watch and record their audio." I said and stood up."What's the point if you're still going to kill him? It's torture to let them meet then kill him." He stopped me by making a point.
"What do I do then? I don't trust that fucking guy! He helped bastards in kidnapping my fucking girlfriend, Hunter." I said to him, showing my frustration."You can deport him." He said.
"What?"
"Randyll is illegally living in NYC. He didn't file for a permanent stay yet." Hunter said.I nodded in understanding. "Let them meet, then have someone to pack up their things. I want them out of here by tomorrow." I said and sighed. "Before that...question Randyll once more, see if he has anything else to say," I said.
