Disappointed

POV: Hunter.

I pulled Jewel closer as she laid her head on my chest. "I swear to god, if he wasn't your friend and I didn't know how Hayley was feeling, I would have kicked his balls." She said. I told her everything about what I and Donato talked about.

She was furious and wanted to go and kick his ass but I had to stop her. I understand that she is Hayley's friend and well-wisher but we can't intrude on something they don't want us to. "Just forget it, please. It's enough for today."

"But it's not ok, Hunter." She said, sitting up. "If you did something like this even when we weren't together, you know I would be heartbroken. It's the only way one can feel."

"But it's not like they love each other, Jewel. What if they are not that affected?" I sat up, looking at her.

"I don't think it's possible not to be affected. They were getting way too close, don't tell me you didn't notice the tension and the looks." How do I even react to that? It's not a lie. Donato has been different ever since she came and they were close or still are, I don't know anymore.

"As much as I agree with you, darling. It's still not our situation to deal with so I don't think we should interfere." She nodded and took her phone. "What now?"

"I'm calling her, her phone has been switched off the whole day." She said and called Hayley. "Oh god! Still switched off."

"Maybe her phone is not reachable? Just calm down. I'll just try to track her." I took my phone and tried to track her again. "Yes, still switched off. Let's just forge-" I was talking but the phone vibrating in my hand distracted me. "It's Donato, wait."

"Put it on speaker, please." I nodded and picked it up.

"What happened?" I said, talking to him.
"You were right. I fucked up."
"Wait, what happened?" Jewel listened to us quietly.
"When she came back, I told her it was a mistake but she is pissed. She cried, pushed me away, out of her room." His voice seemed not-so bold and kind of loose.
"What did she say?"
"Just come here, Hunter. Before I die from all this alcohol."
"Don't tell me you are drinking again. It's your fourth day being drunk for christ's sake!"
"Just come here."

He said and cut the call. Before I could say anything, Jewel rushed to the closet and wore a jacket. "Let's go."

"Why are you so hyper?" I got up and wore a pair of jeans and a white t-shirt. She eye-rolled and went out of the door. I grabbed the car keys and went to the car with her. Then we both drove off to the mansion.

I parked the car in the garage and Jewel, again before I had the chance to say anything, went out and into the mansion. I got out of the car and went after her. "Jewel stop! Do you even know where her room is?" I said, eye-rolling.

"Fine, where is it?" I led her to Hayley's door, she went in and I went to Donato's room.

POV: Jewel

"Hayls?" I called out for her and sat down on the bed. I heard the shower from the bathroom so I went and knocked on the bathroom door. "Hayls?"

"Jewel? What are you doing here?" She opened the door, drying her hair.
"We just came here, Donato called Hunter." I said and hugged her. She hugged me back and snuggled in my neck. "What happened, Hayls?"

"I think you know or you won't come here like this." She sighed and pulled away. "Sit down, I'll just be there in a minute." I nodded and sat down on the bed. She came and sat down next to me after some minutes.

"What happened to you, Hayls. I ain't asking about the situation." She shrugged and laid down. "For real? Tell me, Hayls. Are you angry or hurt or anything?"
