chapter 46: Mock Trial

A/n: *idk how shit goes down in law schools ok therefore idk how mock trials go-*

Third person POV:

Classmate- "Please state your arguement"

Jin-ae stood up looked through the papers and stood up confidently.

Jin-ae- "Thank you, our arguement is that this was an act of self-defense"

Classmate- "Explanation please"

Jin-ae- "We were given the information of the background of their relationship, which seemed to be an abusive and toxic relationship. It is said that the boyfriend would slap her if she didn't do as he said, punch her if she disobeyed, and even used all her weaknesses against her"

She took a deep breath.

Jin-ae- "Given the background of their relationship, we believe that it could've been something that he had no right to take in the first place and that he was threatening her, as seen in the CCTV cameras."

Jin-ae- "As a result, she hit the phone out of his hands in fear and in hopes that it would break the phone and have a higher chance of the video or photos not getting leaked. With these evidences, it could be seen as an act of self-defense"

She then took a seat and waited for the other parts arguement.

Classmate- "Other side's arguement?"

They stood up and looked at Jin-ae.

Other part- "Our arguement is that it was assault"

Classmate- "Explanation"

Other part- "Something is only considered self-defense if the so called predator strikes first. It it a given that the so called victim hits the phone out of his hand and while he is still trying to look for it, she attacks"

Jin-ae- "Hold on, he has a good point"

She said under her breath, trying to prepare her next arguement by looking at the papers they prepared.

He then looked at the classmate that was acting as the judge and said.

Other part- "Your honor, this is not self-defense but it is-"

Jin-ae- "Objection your honor"

She yelled as she raised her hand.

Classmate- "Go on"

Jin-ae- "Due to the fact that she was scared that he'd have enough time to quickly find his phone, she attacked to defend herself from getting hurt by him again"

Other part- "Then despite knowing how her boyfriend is, why did she decide to meet him?"

Jin-ae- "To be able to fight her fear and to finally be able to stand up to him"

She argued.

Other part- "Then why didn't she break up with him? Why did she stay? If she was that scared, why would she stay?"

Jin-ae- "Knowing what he is capable of doing, she didn't leave because she thought what they had was love but instead it was fear. Fear of what he could possibly leak if they broke up, though it could be a lie people on the internet would believe it either way"
