"Why should we?" He responded a bit sarcastically, like he was trying to mess with him.

"I don't think there's anyone else here you're particularly interested in playing with, right? And I think we enjoy each others company."

Kurapika turned around and stared at him for a moment, analyzing his facial expression. Choosing him shouldn't be bad at all, in his opinion he thought this guy had a good shot at winning all six games anyway.

"Ok," Kurapika said, then pausing. "We could make a good pair."

"That's the spirit, 404." They shook hands.

"For this game, you will be playing in teams of two. Please look around and find someone you wish to play with. When two people agree to play together, shake hands to show you have become partners. There can only be two players per team. You will have ten minutes to find your partner."

This man has been nothing but an ally to him the last few games. He was smart, strong, and kind-hearted. So choosing him shouldn't be bad at all, in his opinion he thought this guy had a good shot at winning all six games anyway.

"So? Wanna stop staring at me and pair up before our time runs out?" 403 asked. Kurapika gave a heartful, a bit sarcastic, smile back.

"Ok," Kurapika said, then pausing. "We could make a good pair."

"That's the spirit, 404." They shook hands.

"I'll make sure you win," The blonde said, letting go of his hand.

"How're you gonna do that?" Leorio asked them, raising an eyebrow.

"With whatever it takes." They answered simply with a shrug, another small smile appearing. Why were half the words that came out of their mouth so ominous?

"Well, we're a team now so if I win, so do you. I'm making sure we both make it out of here." Leorio responded. Their smile dropped with that sentence.

"Don't make any promises you can't keep, doctor." They said.

"We could just tell each other our names, you know. It's not like either of us interact with anyone else."

"I don't trust you."

"You just said you wouldn't let me die."

"That doesn't mean I trust you."

"But you think I'm a good enough person to keep alive."

They smiled up at him. "I do."

"The time for finding a partner is now over."
