Nobody/Third Person's POV
"I-I want to protect her that's my job, and I-I haven't told her," Lizzie's voice trembled as she avoid all eye contact with her fiance whose eyes widened at the sentence. The girl who he's been putting on a pedestal for the past three years didn't even have the heart to tell her daughter about him.
"What?" Boyd blurted out shocked by Lizzie's confession.
"I was gonna tell her tonight, this is a lot of new to her so I was planning to break it down by day. Today was sisters and new york paparazzi, tomorrow was you and hanging out with Ashley while we go out for a night alone," Lizzie explained quickly trying to cover up her mistake. They both knew she had plenty of time to tell Alexis about him. This was one of the few decisions that she had made that even she couldn't explain to herself.
"Lizzie, you didn't tell her about me, so no wonder she has been so afraid all night. I'm a complete stranger to her because you couldn't just tell her you're engaged. I can't believe you, I'm so tired of all these excuses, if you don't love me anymore you should just tell me. Because for the past six weeks I've been waiting patiently for you to come home and now you're finally thirty minutes away instead of three thousand miles away, and you are still making up excuses. Are you ever gonna come home?" Boyd sighed resting his head in the palm of his hands.
"We are going to stay here for a few days before we go back home," Lizzie spoke softly hoping she wouldn't be heard. She didn't plan on staying in New York any longer than the eight days she had Alexis pack for, the city life wasn't for them, not at this moment. Alexis needed security and consistency.
"Oh, so just a few days to hang out with the twins, then you'll come home?" Boyd furrowed his eyebrows at her.
"We're only here in New York for a week," Lizzie told him, obviously this was the first that he had heard of the plan.
"Wait, I thought you were done filming until March?" Boyd asked quickly.
"No, we'll be going home, to LA, next Saturday night," Lizzie breathed out.
"You're not here to stay?" Boyd asked looking for confirmation from his fiance. She nodded, timid of his next sentence. "Can I come with you?" Boyd asked searching her hazel eyes for the future he once saw.
"I don't know," Lizzie sighed. It wasn't a yes but it also wasn't a no.
"Lizzie, what happened to her that made her this way?" Boyd asked harshly, changing the tone of the conversation. His anger now masked the pain he felt now that his fiance didn't want him close to her.
"A lot, she's been through a lot," Lizzie answered quickly. After the week of doctor's visits, there had been a ton of eye-opening conversation that the mother-daughter duo shared. Alexis didn't tell her everything thing but enough that now Lizzie could see a few of her scars and recite the abuse she went through.
"That's not enough anymore, Elizabeth. I'm your fiance, one day I'll be a father, her father. I deserve to know at least a little of what she went through," Boyd shouted into the empty kitchen.
"She was abused by two men, physically, sexually, and mentally," Lizzie answered for him, still not wanting to give him any details.
"And...." Boyd paused waiting for her to continue.
"And what?" Lizzie snapped.
"Why won't you tell me? I'm not the enemy here, I followed the rules, I listened, I begged and pleaded. I am here for you and you're still pushing me away, Olsen," Boyd yelled outraged by the fact that his fiance isn't the same person who left Brooklyn just a few short six weeks ago.
