Lizzie's POV
"Lizzie's here!" Ashley shouts as Mary-Kate jumps off the couch to come to see me. I don't move a muscle as I watch Boyd watch me and Alexis.
"Hey, Liz!" Mary-Kate shouts excitedly as she stands in the doorway.
"Come in, come in," Ashley ushers me in the door. I carefully balance my now silent eleven-year-old on my hip as I pull our suitcases inside the door.
"So tell us, how was your flight and everything else?" Ashley asked not even bothering to talk about the elephant in the room. I suddenly started to wish that we had stayed in our LA bubble. It was cozy and involved a lot less drama. Boyd hadn't taken his eyes off me even after I moved to sit in the corner of the couch. Alexis on the other hand was no longer resting her chin on my shoulder but instead had wormed her head to rest just below my chin. It didn't take a dummy to realize it was Boyd who was freaking her out. I'm assuming that when I turned to grab our bags she saw him.
"It was okay, getting here was easy, getting out of JFK not so easy," I tell them breaking the intense staring contest that was going on between Boyd and me. I carefully adjusted Alexis on my lap so we were both more comfortable, but she still didn't dare to lift her head.
"Oof, I'm sorry that sucks, Alexis did you enjoy the plane ride?" Ashley asked in a sweet tone, one that I haven't heard her use in a while.
"Yes," a small voice whispered out. I'm not sure if the others heard it so I nod in agreement with her answer.
"That's great! Did they give you any snacks on the plane?" Mary-Kate asked trying to continue the conversation. I could tell both the twins were already picking up on the shyness I had told them about over the phone.
"Yes," Alexis continued to answer although it's a bit muffled by the fact that her head is still tightly nestled into my neck.
"Oh, yeah, what kind of snacks did you get?" Ashley asked as she moves a bit closer to me.
"Pretzels and a caramel waffle thingy," Alexis answered confidently. I can feel her deep breaths against my skin, it's almost rhythmic, counted? Oh, she's definitely trying to regulate it. Did he really have to be here, I swear there was a good reason why I didn't invite him over tonight. I just wanted to give her a short break.
"Hmm that sounds yummy," Mary-Kate laughed as Alexis continues to keep up this wall of short answers. I think they think it's because of her shyness not because she's on the verge of another panic attack.
"Yes, they were," she answered shakily, which tells me that she needs a moment alone or else she'll spiral.
"Alexis, why don't we go wash the airplane germs off our hands before dinner?" I ask blurting out the first thing that comes to my mind because her grip is tightening around my neck and I can feel her breaths starting to become short.
"Bathroom is in the same place you left it last time," Ashley said while sending me a tell me later look.
"Thanks," I nodded getting up quickly as I hoisted her back into my arms and hurried down the hall.
Third Person POV (A/N: I'm enjoying using this POV so we can get a mix of everyone's inner thoughts at once. Not sure if 3rd person or nobody would describe it better but you get the gist.)
"Well that was interesting," Boyd commented from the kitchen behind the couch where the twins were currently sitting shooting knowing glances at each other.
