Nobody's POV

It was early when the sun started shining through the blinds. Four-year-old Alexis Chase was already wide awake having been woken up by her usual nightmare. It wasn't an every night occurrence as much as it used to be but it was still pretty frequent. She has gotten better at calming herself now, so much so she didn't even wake her Mama.

Alexis was a bit proud but as the minutes ticked by she began to get bored. Slowly and as carefully as possible, she snuck out of the covers and over her Mama before sliding off the bed. Hurrying to the living room, she pulled out her crayons and various coloring books. Making a last-minute decision to color another animal, Alexis lazily dumped out all the crayons on the coffee table. Her tongue stuck out a little in concentration as she got to work on her latest art project.

About thirty minutes passed by when Lizzie started to stir awake, rubbing her eyes she turned over to be greeted by her typically sleepy toddler only to find an empty bed. "Alexis?" Lizzie shouted getting up from bed quickly.

"What? Mama?" Alexis answered oblivious to the panic she had just caused the nineteen-year-old.

"Oh, what are you doing out here?"

"Colowring," Alexis replied innocently as she continued not bothering to look up from her art project.

"You scared me this morning," Lizzie commented sitting on the couch by her daughter.

"I sorry," Alexis paused her coloring to apologize.

"It's okay, I was just worried," Lizzie smiled a warm smile at her messy toddler. The bedhead was clear as day and so was the morning tired eyes.

"Did you hawve a good slweep?"

"Yes, did you?" Lizzie beamed hearing a fully strung-together sentence from her daughter as she gave her a good morning kiss on the cheek.

"No, I hawve a bad drweam," Alexis admitted as she turned back to her coloring.

"I'm sorry, why didn't you wake me?" Lizzie frowned hearing the news.

"You was aslweep, I no want to wake you," Alexis explained in her best grammar.

"You can always wake me, you know that," Lizzie countered hoping to reassure Alexis the best she could.

"I no want to wake you from your priwncwess slweep, Mama," Alexis argued with her.

"Do you think you wanna talk about your dream now?" Lizzie asked trying to see what was going on, it has been several days since she last had one.

Alexis shook her head no instantly. She doesn't like to talk about them, it scares her. "Are you sure?" Lizzie tried to encourage her.

"No, I have to potty!" Alexis shouted abruptly rushing off to the bathroom. Lizzie followed in suit knowing this was a common occurrence for her and she often struggled to get the door open. Lizzie pushed open the door just in time for Alexis to shove down her pants and make it safely to the toilet.

"You never remember do you?" Lizzie chuckled at the almost daily sight.

"I was colowring," Alexis tried to defend herself as she gripped the toilet tightly so she wouldn't fall in.

"I know," Lizzie laughed.

"It not funwny," Alexis pouted.

"Oh, I'm sorry," Lizzie smiled stepping into the bathroom to help Alexis throw away her pull-up before changing into some big kid underwear.
