Alexis's POV

I sat up gasping from a nightmare to find that I was in a bed. I have no idea how I got here, but I guess this wouldn't be the first time that I woke up somewhere unfamiliar. After a few deep breaths, I quickly became aware of my surroundings and noticed that it was still dark outside. Nothing like familiar sleep schedules, I guess.

I had no idea what time it was since there was no clock in the room, but I did notice that my bags were in the corner of the room. I carefully got out of the bed, stumbling a little, as I made my way to my backpack that sat on the floor. I quickly unzipped my backpack and pulled out my notebook. It was the only thing I knew that I owned without question. I smiled at the same purple pen that was always strung through the spiral before climbing back into bed. As my pen hit the page, everything from last night came back at once.

Words flowed across the page as I wrote down every word and feeling I could remember. All the insults, judgments, and actions. Lizzie kissing Boyd, yes I know his name now. I heard it said enough times last night. Lizzie not telling me that she was engaged. Did she not want me? Was she planning to leave me when she got married? She promised but then again, she has broken that promise already once before. I continued writing out all my thoughts and feelings for a while until I heard a knock at the door.

I jumped up and flung my notebook closed sliding the pen into the spiral before tucking the notebook and myself back under the sheets. "Alexis?" a voice sounded on the other side. I didn't say a word, terrified of who it might be. I just hoped it wasn't Lizzie, I didn't want to see her, not right now.

"Alexis, it's Ashley, I'm gonna come in," the voice said identifying herself. The door swung open slowly and in came Aunt Ashley. I heard her slowly approach the bed as I squeezed my eyes shut and felt the bed dip due to her weight. "Hey, Lex, how did you sleep?" Ashley asked quietly. Maybe she knows I've been awake?

"Hmn?" I hummed cautiously as I turned in the bed to see her.

"How'd you sleep?" she repeated.

"Okay," I sighed.

"Do you want some breakfast?" she asked, just like Lizzie used to ask. Speaking of which where is Lizzie?

"Sure," I answered quietly as I watched her movements carefully.

"Hey, you know when you wake up you don't have to stay in your room?" Ashley asked as she returned my cautious stare.

"Are you sure?" I asked her carefully.

"Yes, of course, you're welcome to go anywhere in the house, just don't leave without telling someone," Ashley reiterated.

"Are you really sure?" I asked again, not sure if she was trying to trick me or being honest.

"I promise, you never have to be confined to your room, if you're awake and don't want to be here you can go to the kitchen or living room or movie room or anywhere you want. And this applies to everywhere - my house, Mary-Kates, and Lizzie's, okay?" Ashley informed me as she studied my face similar to how I've seen Lizzie do.

"Okay," I nodded showing her I understood.

"Great, do you have any idea what you want for breakfast?" Ashley asked.

"Um, what do you have?" I asked remembering that's something Lizzie has asked when we had to order lunch at the hotel once.

"I have eggs, toast, some hashbrowns, stuff for omelets, or we could make pancakes or french toast?" Ashley listed off.
