Chapter 8: Field Trip

In Ozpin's office, an argument was brewing between Ironwood, Ozpin, and Glynda as the Director, leaning on Ozpin's desk, drank his coffee amidst the chaos

"They were here..." said Ironwood. "Ozpin, they were here!" Ironwood angrily slams his fist against Ozpin's desk.

"We're very much aware of that! Thank you, James." said Glynda, sarcastically

"Fantastic! You're aware! Now are we going to do something about it or should we just stay the course and continue to ignore what's right in front of us?!"

An alert sound plays, signifying that someone has arrived on the elevator.

"Come in." said Ozpin calmly

Ruby and a bandaged up Church steps out and into the room.

"Sorry it took so long. Someone accidentally hit all the buttons on the elevator on the way up here." explained Ruby. "It wasn't me."

"Thank you for coming, you two." thanked Ozpin. "How are you feeling?"

"Okay, I guess. I'd feel better if my bad-guy-catching record wasn't O-for-three." joked Ruby

Everyone stares silently.

"Okay, so that's the tone we're going for, got it."

"And you son?" asked the Director

"I woke up a few times after accidently leaning on my arm but other than that, I'm good." said Church. "Besides, I've been through worse like when Caboose first killed me"

"Sorry, what now?" asked Glynda

"Ohhh..." Church realised what he just said

"It does not matter to the situation right now" cut in the Director. "What matters right now is what they saw last night"

Glynda cleared her throat and the Director sighed

"But Ironwood has something he likes to say"

Ironwoods then starts to patronise them. "Ruby, Leonard, I feel it's appropriate to let you know that I think what you did last night is exactly what being a Huntress and Huntsman is all about. You both recognized a threat. You both took action. And you both did the very best you could."

"Thank you, sir." said Ruby

"Uh, thanks" said Church

"Now, the general and director here has already informed us of the events that... transpired last night" said Ozpin. "But now that you've rested, we were wondering if you had anything to add."

"Was anyone else with her? Did she look familiar to you at all?" asked Glynda

"I... I don't know. She was wearing a mask, and she never said anything to me. But I know she fought with glass. I don't think that was her Semblance, though. Her clothing lit up whenever she attacked."

"Same for the glass, that sounds like the woman I fought the night we met Ruby and Leonard"

"Now that you mentioned, yeah she seemed really pissed when I shot her in the leg and she sounded really familiar when she yelled" said Church

"Embedding Dust into clothing is an age-old technique. It could have been anyone." said Ironwood

"Wait. You think this girl is connected to Torchwick and the White Fang?" asked Ruby

"It's possible. But we still lack the required evidence to link the two together." said the Director

"Actually, I... I think I remember her saying something about a hideout, or something, in the southeast. Just outside the Kingdom." lied Ruby
