Chapter LXVIII

You've cornered Grendel Wyvern helplessly.

You look at him with a calm and blank eyes, "I told you that I never wanted to pull the trigger back then," You whispered, "This time, it's different."

Grendel laughs and no fear is visible in his voice. No one is shooting him yet as he slowly moves his arm and aims the gun that he's been holding on his temple. He looks into your eyes deeply.

"Even when I die, the organization will keep on moving. It will keep on developing. The darkness that is supposed to be yours to control will keep on growing, (Y/N). It will never stop spreading." Grendel stated without looking helpless with his situation at all.

His aura still screams pride, arrogance, and danger.

"Every member of the organization is dead downstairs," Dazai whispered and his eyes are cold and empty as well, "You have nothing left, Grendel."

Grendel's smirked didn't vanish as he looks at Dazai mockingly, "Oh? I've always known you're capable of being a traitor, Dazai. Everyone downstairs is nothing but a mere toy of mine...like you. There are people all around the globe that will continue my legacy."

"There is a world-wide raid gathered up that aims to put everything into justice. At this moment, all of your other toys are already behind the jail under Kambe Daisuke's command and order. You have nowhere to go now." Haru replied firmly while pointing his gun on Grendel.

Grendel laughed maniacally as he gave Daisuke a glare, "Of course, it's you. Kambe Daisuke. I despise your blood more than you'll ever know. I should have killed you earlier, too."

Everyone is silent. The atmosphere feels incredibly heavy. Everyone is exhausted. You are breathing hard while looking at Grendel Wyvern. He may look proud on the outside but you know deep down, he's messed up. You know deep down, he knows it's already the end for him.

It's already the end for all of these.

Grendel's eyes slowly change into a tired one and gentle one. It's his usual calm demeanor. He sighs calmly as he looks at you.

"Have you already found your salvation after seeing me in this state, (Y/N)?" He whispered with a small smile plastered on his face.

Now, that smile feels genuine. It is a genuine tired and exhausted smile. It is like the smile of someone willing to give up anytime soon.

"I've always hated you." You muttered.

Grendel's eyes are filled with pity as he looks at you. His smile turned sadly. He looked at the dark sky for a moment before he chuckled a little.

"The truth is always suffocating and the reality is miserable, (Y/N). I made you suffer to teach you the best way possible to survive. I may die here but that wouldn't end your suffering. The truth is always suffocating and I know once you find out that truth, you will be miserable and you will continue to suffer until the last minutes of your life."
