Chapter Twenty One

"Tris."

I sat up. Tobias was sitting on the edge of the bed. I wrapped my arms around him.

"You're okay." I said

'I'm fine. Its just a dream." Tobias said

I felt my head for bulletholes. Nothing. Tobias stood up and I got out of bed. He brought me my jacket and helped me put it on. He wrapped his arms around me

"Evelyn said she will meet us at her house." Tobias said

We walked out of the house together. I saw my mother standing side by side wih Christina. I almost fell back. I covered my mouth with my hands. Tobias reached out to steady me.

"Tris?" Tobias said " are you okay?"

"I don't know anymore." I said

I laced my fingers with his. We walked to Abnegation together. When we got there, a group of initiates were walking towards different houses. We kept walking until we reached Evelyn's house. She was standing outside waiting for us. She waved us inside.

"I haven't seen either of you in a long time. Tris you look exhausted." Evelyn said

"Work can distract you sometimes." Tobias said

"Sit. We have a lot to talk about."

We sat down on the couch. Evelyn went to the kitchen. Tobias wrapped his arms around me. Evelyn came back and sat down across from us.

"What has happened since I last saw you?" Evelyn asked

"Well, I am leader of Dauntless now." Tobias said

"I help oversee training." I said

"I thought you never wanted to be leader of Dauntless Tobias?" Evelyn said

"Things change Evelyn."

"We had a daughter named Christina." I said

"Where is she? you should have brought her along." Evelyn said

"Excuse me." I said

I walked out the front door. I saw Christina, my mother and my father sitting on the steps to my house. Tobias came out of the house.

"Tris? Are you okay? You look like you've seen a ghost." Tobias said

"Three." I said "Christina, my mother and my father."

A tar rolled down my cheek. I quickly wiped it away. I kissed Tobias on the cheek.

"I have to go. You should talk to Evelyn. I'll see you later." I said

I ran down the street before he could react. I ran to the train and got on. When I was on, a figure stepped out of the shadow. Mat.

"We meet again Beatrice." Mat said

I punched him in the throat and grabbed his gun. I pointed it at him.

"Think again." I said jumping out of the train car

I threw the gun on the grass and ran toward Dauntless. When I got there, Lauren looked worried.

"Tris, are you okay?" she asked

"No. Not really. Can I talk to your mother?" I said

"Sure."

We walked to her mother's apartment. Lauren knocked and then opened the door. Her mother's apartment was clean and neat.

"Mother, this is Tris. Four's wife." Lauren said

"Hello Tris. Call me Hatchel." she said

"I need to talk to you about something important." I said

"I'll see you later." Lauren said as she left the apartment

"What do you need Tris?" Hatchel asked

"I've been seeing ghosts. What does it mean?" I said

"Ghosts? Of whom?"

"My mother, my daughter, and my father."

"Tris. How long have you been seeing these types of things?"

"Ever since my daughter died."

"Tris. Go home. Rest. Spend time with your husband."

I walked out of the apartment. I decided to go home. When I got home, I pulled off my jacket and set it on the couch. I went upstairs. There was a knife in the top dresser drawer. I grabbed it. I went to the bathroom and put a note on the mirror saying:

Tobias,

I couldn't stay here. I don't know where I'll go. I love you. I'll be home as soon as I can.

I set the knife on the counter. I started to cry. Then I heard the front door open.

"Tris?"

I opened to window in our bedroom and jumped out. I ran. I really didn't know where I was going. I turned into an alley.I kept running. I found myself in the Abnegation sector. I went to Evelyn's house. I knocked. Evelyn opened the door.

"Tris. What are you doing here?" Evelyn said

"Can I stay here tonight?" I asked

"Sure."

I walked in. Evelyn closed the door behind me.

"Does Tobias know you're here?" Evelyn asked

"No. I just need to disappear for a while. Please don't tell him I'm here." I said

"Why? Did you guy get into a fight?" Evelyn asked

"No. I just couldn't handle living in a house with Erudite crap." I said harsher than I ment it

"Okay. You can stay here. Only for two day though." Evelyn said
