Allegiant Continues

Chapter Thirty Three

When I woke up, I was in the infirmary. Tobias, Zeke, Christina and Shauna were standing around my bed. I tried to talk but Christina stopped me.

"Don't talk. It'll hurt." she said

Everyone looked at me. I looked over at Tobias. His hand was resting on the bed. He was asleep. I put my hand on his. He still didn't wake up. I looked at Zeke. I tapped my throat. He went over to a nurse and asked for some water. Zeke handed it to me. I lipped a thank you and smiled. Zeke knew exactly what I was gonna do. He whispered to Shauna what I was gonna do. She laughed. I looked at Tobias. He was still sleeping.

Zeke put his hand on my shoulder. I threw the water on Tobias and handed the cup to Shauna. Tobias bolted up from his chair we all laughed. I found that it hurt to laugh so I laughed silently.

"Who did that?" Tobias said

"Tris." Everyone said at the same time

Tobias smiled at me and kissed my cheek.

"Good afternoon to you too." Tobias said

We all laughed.

"I am going to go change. I'll be back." Tobias said

Tobias left the infirmary. Zeke high fived me.

"Nice one Tris." Shauna said

I frowned. I wanted to say something but I couldn't say it. Shauna looked at Zeke.

"I'll get something for you to write with." Zeke said

He came back with a small chalkboard. I wrote:

Afternoon?

"Oh. Yea. You have been out for a while." Shauna explained

I erased the word and wrote something else.

How long?

"Almost a week." Christina said

"Oh! I almost forgot! Your brother is coming by today to see you." Zeke said

Tobias came back in with dry clothes on and combed hair. I erased the board and wrote another phrase.

You told him he could come?

"Well no. He kinda told us he was coming." Zeke said

You didn't object?

"He is your brother." Shauna said

Did your brother try to kill you?

"Well no." Shauna said

Then Caleb walked into the room. I just noticed there was a brace on my neck. Caleb walked over to my bedside. I looked a Tobias.

"What are you doing here?" Tobias asked standing up

"I came to see my sister." Caleb said

I wrote a phrase on my board.

Go away Caleb.

I heard a bunch of 'oh's from Zeke and Shauna.

"Why?" Caleb asked

Because I don't want to be around people who try to kill me, pansycake

Tobias covered his laugh with a cough.

"Well I'm not going anywhere. Zeke invited me." Caleb said

I looked at Zeke

Well you can go now. I'm fine.

I looked at Caleb. I wanted to scream at him.

Water?

I showed it to Zeke. He smiled and went to go get more. Zeke brought back a cup of water. I lipped another thank you. I lifted it to my lips and quickly threw the water on Caleb.

We all laughed at him. A laugh escaped my throat. It hurt. I started to cough.

"Look what you did Caleb." Zeke said laughing

I stopped coughing.

"Fine. I'll leave." Caleb said
