Chapter Fifty Six

I followed Zeke through the compound. We were headed to the infirmary. I stopped. I knew what this meant. It happened last time. When Christina died. My knees buckled under me. Zeke turned to me.

"No." I whispered

I shook my head as tears fell. Zeke helped me to my feet. We walked to the infirmary. He led me to her room. Tobias was sitting by her side. She was breathing heavily. I sighed. It was a relief to see that she wasn't dead. I sat next to Tobias.

"What happened?" I asked, my voice was hoarse

"Please don't go crazy. Jack got to her." Tobias said

I felt anger raging through me. I balled my hands into fists. I clenched my jaw. I stormed out of the compound. Zeke came after me.

"Tris! This is not the answer!" Zeke yelled

"HE HURT MY DAUGHTER! I HAVE EVERY RIGHT TO STAND UP FOR HER!" I yelled

I started to run but I stopped. This isn't Jack. This is David. He's still trying to kill me. Zeke came up to me.

"Tris, what is it?" Zeke asked

I ran back to the infirmary. Tobias stood when he saw me.

"It's not Jack. He didn't do this. Caleb did and you and I know whose orders he's operating under." I said

Tobias looked at Natalie. She was waking up. I sat on the bed next to her. Once she realized where she was, she bolted up.

"Why am I here? I'm fine." Natalie said

"What happened?" I asked

"Well, I was playing outside with Uriah and I heard this extremely high pitched ringing. Like you did mom." Natalie said

"Four, cancel the initiate game tonight." I said

"What are you doing Tris?" Tobias said

"I'll be back tonight." I said

I pulled on my jacket and ran to the outside. Amar's truck was waiting. He got out. David got out after him.

"HOW DARE YOU HURT MY DAUGHTER!" I yelled

"I'm doing the best for her." David said

"THE BEST? HOW IS THIS FOR THE BEST? YOU WORK WITH CALEB TO TRY AND KILL ME AND NOW MY DAUGHTER?" I yelled

"We are not trying to kill you. Amar came up with this." David said

I looked at Amar angrily.

"You hurt my daughter?" I yelled

I punched him in the face and pulled out my gun. Amar put his hands up.

"Tris. That noise device makes you stronger. You should know. Please put that gun down." Amar said

I shot the air right of him. He flinched. David tackled me and took the gun out of my hands. He stood me up and put my hands behind my back.

"Why are you treating me like I just killed him?" I said

"Tris, once you calm down, I'll let you go." David said

Someone appeared at the fence. Joanna. David pressed a gun to my head and fired. I saw Joanna run off. I blacked out.

Tobias' POV

It has been 6 hours since Tris left. Me and Natalie are at home. Natalie and Uriah are outside playing. I sat on the steps. Then Tori came running over to me.

"Four, you have to come. Now. It's Tris." Tori said

I followed her to Amity. Joanna was standing in the lobby.

"I'm so sorry Four. I was tending to the fields and I saw a man shoot Tris. In the head. I'm very sorry." Joanna said

Anger filled me. I ran out of Amity and ran to the fence. I jumped over. Tori was following me. I saw Amar's truck.

"TRIS!" I yelled

Amar emerged from behind the truck.

"Tobias, you shouldn't have come." Amar said

"Where is she?" I asked

"She's in the compound. She isn't stable. She's been trying to kill everyone all day." Amar said

"Let me see her." I said

We got in the truck. Tori sat by me. When we got there, I jumped out. I helped Tori out and then we walked to where Tris was. Amar led us to a glass cell. Tris was curled in the middle of the cell. Amar banged on the glass. She looked up. She took the chair and threw it at the glass.

"I told you. Not very stable." Amar said

I walked up to the glass. Tris looked at me. She started screaming something.

"Glass is soundproof." Amar said

Tears fell down her face. I found a door on the other side of the room. I went into the cell.

"Tris." I said

"Amar needs to die." Tris said, not lifting her head

"What?" I said

"He hurt her. This was his plan. He hurt me and her. Why did you think I was in here?" I said

Tris' POV

I heard the door open and close. I looked up. Amar was standing there. I ran over and curled my hands around his neck. Tobias tried to get me off of him but I kept my hold.

"YOU SICK PERSON! HOW COULD YOU HURT A FIVE YEAR OLD LIKE THAT!" I yelled

Tobias pried me off of Amar. He held my hands behind my back.

"Let go." I said

Tobias let me go. I ran through the open door. I ran out of the compound. Tears fell down my cheeks. I ran back to my house. Tobias didn't follow me. Zeke was sitting on my front steps. I went past him.

"Tris! What happened?" Zeke yelled

Natalie and Uriah were playing in Natalie's room. I packed my duffel bag. Once it was full, I went to leave. Natalie caught my eye.

"Mom, where are you going?" Natalie asked

I walked over to her.

"I have to go somewhere. I'll be back as soon as I can okay?" I said

Natalie nodded. I left the house. Zeke stopped me outside.

"Tris! Where are you going? What happened?" Zeke yelled

Tears fell down my cheeks. I dropped my duffel bag. I turned to Zeke.

"I can't stay here. Take care of Natalie for me." I said

"You aren't leaving." Zeke said

I saw Tobias running toward the house. I ran off. I took the long way back to the outside. I saw David and Amar. I walked over to Amar and gave him a hug.

"I'm sorry. I shouldn't have done that." I said

"Its alright." Amar said

We drove back to the compound. They got me a room.

"Tris, what happened?" Amar asked
