Chapter Thirty Two

I didn't sleep that night. Eric came in early the next morning.

"You look horrible." Eric said

"Isn't horrible what you want?" I said

"Whatever." Eric said

He guided me to Marie's apartment. This time she added more blood.

"That guy you were talking to at the meeting yesterday, is he your husband?" Marie asked

"Yes." I said

"There. Horrible and beat up." Marie said

I looked down at my hands.

"Give me the knife." I said

Marie gave me the knife. I cut open some old bullet wounds. Then I put the knife on the counter. Then Eric came in to collect me. Jack was already on the bridge.

"Let's try this again." Jack said

Eric dragged me onto the bridge. He shoved me forward. I fell, just as they wanted. Blood trickled down my shoulder. Good.

"Tris! What did they do to you?" Tobias tried to come towards me but Eric stopped him.

"What do you think you're doing stiff?" Eric said

"Leave him alone Eric." I held Eric's gun to his head

"Woah." Eric said

I shot Eric in the leg causing him to collapse.

"Nice doing business with you Jack." I said

I jumped over the side of the bridge. Zeke jumped after me.

"Tris!" Zeke called

I was weak. I floated to the bottom. Then a hand reached out for me. I didn't grab it. The person dove into the water. Tobias. He lifted me up out of the water. He brought me to the shore. I collapsed in his arms. I could barely keep my eyes open.

"I love you. Tobias." I said

"Tris you are not leaving me." Tobias replied

My eyes closed.
