Chapter 44

"I'm very, very sorry for all the fans that I will disappoint with this urgent update. My agency has decided to cancel my upcoming concert that will happen exactly on Christmas day.  Just the day after yesterday, while I was on a one-day vacation, my manager received a present that we both didn't know where it came from... and with a bang, it's a death threat from a mysterious person. Further investigation is happening right now, and for my safety also, the concert should be cancelled for now." 

"My greatest apology to those fans that are expecting me to see on Christmas." 

Bakas sa mukha ni Eli ang kalungkutan habang pinapanood ko siya sa TV. He's in the midst of a press conference to announce the most heartbreaking news on National TV today... the cancellation of his concert.

Just before we left La Union yesterday morning, hindi na siya mapakali dala ng sobrang takot at kaba sa i-a-announce niya ngayong araw. That's why the sadness traces on his face doesn't give me any single concern, 'cause I already know how hurtful it was to announce such a thing like a famous artist cancelling his comeback concert on big dome.

"For sure, maraming fans ang malulungkot dahil sa announcement na 'yan," I heard Jenny faltered.

"Maging ako, malulungkot na cancelled pala ang concert. Partida, team illegal stream pa ako nito, ha? Paano pa kaya 'yong mga fans na nakabili na ng ticket, 'di ba?"

Nakita ko naman ang pasimpleng pagsiko ni Jenny kay Cindy, malamang ay upang sabihan 'tong si Cindy na lagyan ng preno ang bibig. I just heard from Cindy's mouth that she's doing illegal streaming, but... I don't have any plans to make that thing get into a serious one.

Minsan din akong naging illegal streamer, doing illegal streaming to some of international concerts... and I do understand those fans like Cindy, doing such thing. For which I believe that over half of the population of fans nowadays had insufficient balance to sustain their fangirling needs.

It's not like I'm tolerating other fans to continue doing illegal streaming. I do understand their reasons for doing that... but since it's already given that it's a mistake, may they learn their lessons from that.

"Corrine, hindi naman madalas-"

"No worries." Nginitian ko si Cindy. "But I do hope so, you will not do the same thing again. Apologies are acceptable for doing faults, but doing it over and over again, saying sorry no longer makes any sense." 

Bumalik na ako sa ginagawa after kong tapusin ang panonood sa presscon ni Eli. For today's work, kasal nina Magi at Dylan ang inaasikaso namin ngayon. I'm just happy in yesterday's happening... dahil ang plano talaga nilang dalawa na mag-aayos sa kasal nila ay 'yong nag-ayos din daw ng kasal no'ng tita ni Dylan.

But these two, Magi and Dylan, initiated na sa amin daw nila ipagkakatiwala ang pag-aayos sa kasal nila. With them being said, their words fluttered me. This is the second time that I will be able to arranged one of my friends' wedding. No'ng una ay sa kasal ni Harold kay Celine... ngayon naman ay kasal ni Dylan kay Magi.

I can't wait any longer to witness that lover's wedding.

"Kasal n'yo naman ni Eli ang susunod naming aayusin," kinikilig na sambit ni Jenny while she's busy in front of the monitor, smiling sheepishly. 

The only thing I did was force myself to smile. The saddest thing is when the thought registered in my mind... that Eli still stuck, not doing any better in our relationship... while I was still waiting for an impossible thing to happen... that one of these days, he'll ask me for a date, kneeling his toes down, showing me a diamond ring and finally, asking me to marry him.
