"Another two weeks as come and gone and I'm enjoying being here but I also miss my friends back in Brookfield. Just a few more weeks till I head back home."
I woke up not feeling well at all, I had horrible back pain, headache, I'm still a bit nauseous at times. I missed my bed back home it never made my back hurt this bad. I walked downstairs to see my mom drinking some coffee with Auntie Rose but again that smell made my nausha worse I immediately ran outside for air once again, this time they came out.
"Are you okay, Ad?" Auntie Rose asked me as I turned around to face them. "Yeah. It's just that smell makes my nashua worse." I told her being completely honest, I did try to hide how I was feeling for a little bit but I gave up.
"Adeline, you've been complaining of bring exhausted, I noticed your back has been bothering you, and you've been nauseous at random times." My mom said, "And you can't stand the smell of coffee." She added. "I was almost the same way when I was pregnant with you and Jack.
"Wait... are you saying you think I'm-"
"Pregnant." We both said at the same time. We both smiled instantly and I got all excited. I'm pregnant.
"Are you sure mom? How do I tell Gabriel? I don't want to tell him in a letter." I told her after thinking about it.
"Honey, I'm very sure you are." She smiled pulling me into a big hug, "Wait and surprise him." My mom said pulling away from our hug. "Congratulations, Adeline!!" Aunt Rosie came over and hugged me as well. "Thank you Auntie Rose." I smiled, "Well this has been a very exciting morning but I do need to get going. I won't tell anyone so don't worry." Aunt Rosie said as she walked away, my mom and I just laughed at her she is something else. "Lets go back inside." My mom smiled before leading the way back in.
We sat and talked about everything that has to do with babies and being a mother. I was definitely nervous but I knew that with my mom and her wisdom I could do. I just wish Gabriel was here to be with me so we could experience this new journey together.
It was around noon and I decided to go out for a walk it was such a beautiful August day I couldn't let it go to waste. I went through town and just was passing Ned's when I heard my name being called. "Mrs. Kinslow!" Ned yelled out for me, I smiled at my new name it still was so new but I loved it. "You have a letter from Constable Kinslow." Ned said meeting me half way. "It just came in." He said with a smile, I was met with relief knowing that I heard from him.
"Thank you so much Mr. Yost, you have no idea how you just made my day." I smiled holding the letter close. We said goodbye and I continued on my walk.I ended up at my parents favorite place it seemed right to read my letter here, I missed him but hearing from Gab helps just a little bit.
"Dear Adeline,
I hope this letter finds you well. Sorry that I haven't written much recently, we've been so busy up here. I won't waste ink telling you what it's like here, because I spend most of my days trying to forget it. Instead, I think of you and how wonderful our future will be. I wish I could just snap my fingers and make everything better and come but it doesn't work that way. How are you doing? I hope well. I'm glad you are with your mother for the rest of the summer, it'll keep you busy till school starts. I miss you so much everyday but I still look at the moon hoping your still looking at it as well. I can't wait to come home to you and start a family, have some little feet running around. You'll be such an amazing mother to our children, I just hope I can be a good father. I should get back to work now, I'll write again as soon as I possibly can. I love you, Adeline. Forever and always.
Your loving husband,
Gabriel."
I smiled at his words, it was almost like he knew we're having a baby. I'm just glad he's doing well. I must of read his letter 5 times before deciding to head back and tell mother that I finally heard from him. I couldn't stop smiling, I was just so happy but I also held it close to my heart.
"Mother, I heard from Gabriel!" I said greeting her inside the house she excitedly turned around "I'm happy to hear it! It always made my day when I revived a letter and it helped ease my worry." My mother told me with a smile.
"It did ease my mind knowing I heard from him, I just hope he's back before the baby comes." I said with a sigh thinking about him not being here when I give birth. "I hope he is too but there is a good possibility he might not be." She told me, "But let's not dwell on that. How's my favorite son-in-law?" My mom asked which made me chunkle.
