When Love Calls

Chapter 24

It was a beautiful summer day the hot sun beaming down on everyone, it was definitely August you could tell by the hot sun to the point where the town was quite nobody wanted to be outside which made me crazy for walking to town. "Adeline what are you doing out in this heat? I told everyone to stay indoors today." Gabriel said getting up from his desk as I sat down across from his chair. "Here." He smiled handing me a cup of cold water. "Thank you, love." I smiled before drinking some of my water.

"I have an idea!" I had as the heat was only getting worse as the day went on. "Oh what's that?" Gabriel asked as he sat up in his chair. "It involves us taking a ride on Apollo. Just trust me on this!" I said getting up excited and walking towards the door, "Adeline, where are we going?" Gabriel chunkled as he got and followed me outside, the heat took away my breath. "Do you mind if I lead us?" I said stopping myself, "Well since I have no idea what your thinking, I'd say yes." Gabriel said chunkling again. I smiled before getting on and then waiting for Gabriel to get on and we trotted off. It wasn't long before we arrived at the destination I had in mind and Gabriel still didn't get why we were here.

"Ad... why are we at the river?" He asked as I chunkled and hopped off Apollo with some help from Gabriel. I didn't say anything but simply ran off and jumped of the dock that was at the river, he just laughed and laughed not expecting me to do so.

"Come on in the waters fine!" I said in the refreshing water that felt amazing as I swim over to the dock. "I don't know Adeline, I'm in my uniform." Gabriel said kinda hesitant to get in, "Alright.. help me out then." I said holding out my hand but I had a different plan. As he grabbed my hand I pulled with all my might and I  successfully pulled him in. "Adeline Charlotte Thornton!" He said as he came up from the water, I just laughed at him.
"I can't believe you didn't think I'd try to pull you in." I said laughing before he swam over to me. "You're incredibly lucky that I love you right now." He said trying to hold back his laughter, "Don't laugh, Constable." I said picking on him. "I wouldn't do such a thing." He said before he started laughing, "I said not to laugh!" I said hitting his shoulder but then he slashed water in my face which caught me off but instantly doing ot back to him.

We were in the water at least an hour before Gabriel got out he said he had to get something out of his saddle bag. "Hey Adeline can you come here for a second? I think there's a strom rolling in." He said looking up at the sky, I let out a sigh and got out of the water. He pointed to the sky and it was indeed looking like it could storm, "Yeah it definitely does look like it." I said before turning around to see Gabriel was down on one knee with a ring box in his hand, I instantly throw my hand over my mouth in shook I was not expecting him to propose today.

"Adeline Charlotte Thornton, you know we've had are ups and downs but that as only grown us closer together which I'm grateful for. You made me so incredibly happy Adeline and I won't want to spend the rest of my life without you." Gabriel said smiling the whole time as I couldn't stop crying happy tears just as a rumble of thunder made me jump. "So Adeline will you marry me?" Gabriel asked.

"Yes. Yes, of course I'll marry you!" I said as he put the ring on my finger and then I jumped into his arms as the rain started coming down which then turned into it pouring. We just looked at each and started laughing, it's a day that will we never forget. "Come on let's go!" Gabriel said as he pulled my hand leading me back to Apollo. He hopped up and then held out his hand to help me jump up and then we quickly rode off to town as it storm was only growing stronger, I couldn't help the laugh the whole way back to town.

"Oh its going to take hours for my clothes to dry." I laughed as we walked in his office as he shut the door, "When the storm settes down I'll take you home but that could be a bit." Gabriel said walking over to me. "We're engaged!" I said as i finally realized after everything that just happened. "Yes we are." Gabriel smiled pulling me in and kissed me, I couldn't be happier.

Eventually the rain lit up and Gabriel took me home, I thanked him and hopped off Apollo. Newly engaged I couldn't wait to tell everyone!
