I was in the store getting some things when I dumped into Mr. Race, he was a single dad with 2 kids I didn't really know him but I've heard he's nice.
"Miss Thornton, I was just hoping to find you." He told me, I wonder why. "And why's that?" I asked curiously, "I have to go out of town for a few days and i need someone to stay with the kids, they 14 and 12 but I would feel better leaving them if someone was with em." He explained, "Is there any way you could do it?" He ask, besides school I didn't having anything going on so I need some fun, "Sure, When do you leave?" I asked. "Well I would like to leave as soon as possible. My brother needs help with his farm, would today be okay?" He asked, "Absolutely. Your brother needs help. Let me go back to my place get some things and I'll be right over." I smiled. "Thank you so much, Miss Thornton." He said, "You're welcome." I smiled. I finished getting the things I came for and checked out and rode Sergeant back to my place. Thankfully he came back yesterday or I probably won't have agreed to help out Mr. Race.

I grabbed a weeks worth of clothes and some other things that I would need for school or something like that. 10 minutes later I was all set and ready to go, I put my backpack on and jumped up on Sergeant and made my way over, I was getting pretty good about finding my way around now days.

"And that should be it." He finished telling me what do to well he was not here, "And you children listen to Miss Thornton." He told his kids as get sat down on his wagon. "Yes, pa." They both said, "See y'all in a few days." He smiled before he started on his way.
The rest of the day we did chores that needed to be done and played games and had a ton of fun. Now they were in bed and I was headed that way.

I got up pretty early, it was about 5:30. I went out and fed the horses and cows. When all was said and done it was about 6:15ish. I made some pancakes and eggs that woke the kids up. "Good morning, Miss Thornton." Will said coming into the kitchen, with his big sister behind him. "Good morning. How did you sleep?" I asked them sitting down at the table to join them for breakfast. "Pretty good." Nelly smiled, "And how about you, Will?" I asked before taking a bite of my pancake. "Good." He answered. "Good I'm glad. The chores are done, but me need to get going to be there early for school." I told them. We finished eating and cleaned up the kitchen before we left to get the school house. We talked about what we wanted to do after school, "How about the three of us eat at the hotel for dinner?" I asked them, they faces lit up with smiles, "Could we?" Nelly asked excited, it was a treat for them. "We sure can." I smiled. "Yay!" Will said excited. I laughed as we continued our way to the school house.

"So if we multiply 23 times 11, what's the answer?" I asked the classroom of kids, I saw two raised hands. "Yes, William?" I called on him "Is it 252?" He asked, "Close, it's 253. Good try though." I smiled. "All right. We are done with math for the day." Yays echoed the room, I chuckled at them. "It's reading hour. Take out your book and start reading..." I said looking at the clock waiting for the time to change. "Now!" I said excited so they would be. Everyone started reading and I sat back down at my desk, to work on some paperwork that needed to be done.

"School is dismissed." I said ringing the bell that was outside, parents came to get their kids, some of the older ones walked home and some went with their friends mom. I needed to finish grading math for I didn't have to do it over the weekend. "Nelly! Will!" I called for the kids who were outside playing. They came running around the building, "I have to finish grading papers, can you two keep yourselves busy till I get done here?" I asked, "Yes, ma'am." Nelly told me, "I should be about an hour." I told them, they ran off and started to play.

I walked out shutting the door behind me, The kids came running over to me. "Who's ready for dinner?" I asked, Will instaly raised his hand up, I let a chuckle. "Well what are we waiting for?" I said as we started walking over to the hotel. "Adeline!" Grace greeted me at the door. "Hi Grace, working late today?" I asked her as she brought us to a table. "Yeah, always need the money." She told us, "I bet." I smiled. "What can I get y'all?" Grace smiled. We all ordered chicken and lemonade, and apple pie for dessert. "Thank you, Grace." I smiled getting up with the kids right behind me. "You're welcome. Have a good night." She smiled as we left the hotel, "That was so good." Will said happily, "It sure was." Nelly added. "It was!" I agreed with them.
