I was walking back to town with some children from school we talked and laughed, I really did have a great class. I saw Grace to someone showing them a piece of paper, whatever it was she was quite excited about it.
"Alright children this is where I must part. Have a good night and I'll see you tomorrow." I smiled as the children all ran off to play, I made my way over to Grace.
"What's got you so excited?" I asked with a chuckle and she handed me a paper.
"The town is having a fall dance! Saturday night at 6, at the hotel. It's going to be amazing. So.... are you and Gabriel gonna go?" She asked with a cheeky grin on her face. "I suppose I'll if he asks, I'll keep you posted." I smiled walking off I happened to look over towards the Mounties office and there was Gabriel smiling looking at me, I waved and smiled as I kept walking.
I opened the door to the orphanage to see Lillian busy with the children it looked like a disagreement happened between the oldest two, I smiled and stepped aside till she was done. "Sorry, gotta love the the things children argue about." Lillian said as she sat down at the table. "Oh I completely understand." I said with a giggle. We talked a bit more before moving outside so hang out the laundry which I was happy to help with.
"So are you and Gabriel going to the dance?" She asked as I gave her a sheet to hang up, I laughed as I grabbed the next sheet.
"You and Grace are the same person," I said which made Lillian laugh. "If Constable Kinslow asks yes, if not I don't know." I told her with a smile as I handed her the sheet.
"Are you guys talking about me?" Gabriel said smiling as he came around the corner of the house, Lillian and I just looked at each other and chuckled as he took his hat off.
"Oh Constable, we would never." Lillian said holding back laughter, he looked at me waiting for something. "We're not those kinda girls." I smiled at him, he just lost it and laughed. "Anyway, Miss Thornton may I have a moment of your time?" Gabriel smiled as he asked for me. I looked at Lillian who gave me a reassuring smile, "Of course, anything for you Constable." I smiled as we walked away from Lillian.
Before he said anything he pulled me into his we locked eyes and smiled before we kissed, we've been together for a few weeks and it's been nothing but amazing. We haven't said I love you yet but I do feel like it's coming soon.
"How's your day been going?" He asked as we started to walk again, "Really good! School went well, I think the kids got something out of it," I said which made Gabriel chuckled with a smile, I could watch him smile all day. "And hanging out with Lillian as been fun. How has yours been?"
"That's good, I'm happy to hear it. It's been a pretty good day as well nothing crazy so I'll take it." Gabriel smiled, "Adeline." He said getting somewhat serious which made me, "Would you do me the honor of being my date to the Fall Celebration Dance?" He asked me smiling as wide as he possibly could.
"It would my honor." I smiled as I accepted his offer, he didn't hesitate to just pull me in for another kiss.
"I'll come and pick you up at 5:45. But I really should be getting back to work, I'll see you." He smiled getting back on his horse, he tipped his hat before riding off leaving me smiling to the point it hurt. I walked back around the house to find Lillian finishing up the laundry, she looked up to see me smiling check to check.
"He asked you didn't he?!" Lillian said excited for me, I nodded my head she let out a squeal and hugged me. We went back inside and talked a little bit longer before I decided I needed to head home. Once I got home I went right to my closet to look for a dress to wear and I found the perfect one, I couldn't help but be excited for Saturday to come.
The rest of the week seemed to drag on I blame it on me being excited for the dance, I've been to a few dances back in Hope Valley but this one would be different. Grace and I decided to get ready at the orphanage, unfortunately Lillian had to stay behind.
"Gabriel is going to faint when he sees you." Grace said as we looked in the mirror, I smiled at her kind words. "Thank you for helping me get ready, and being my best friend." I smiled she just smiled and gave me a hug. We walked downstairs and as there was a knock on the door, "Well, I know who that is." Lillian smiled as she went for the door, I grabbed my shaw and headed towards the door.
Lillian stepped aside to reveal me behind her, the smile that was on his face only grew, Lillian and Grace left the room so we could be alone.
"Adeline, wow. You are breathtaking." He smiled complimenting me as he continued to stare at me, I leaned in and planted my lips on his.
"We probably should be going Mr. Kinslow." I smiled as we pulled apart from our kiss. He helped me up on the wagon and just like that we were off to the dance.
The dance was going amazing, we danced, talked, ate some snacks, and just were having good time. I was talking to Joe when they started to play a very familiar song, "May I have this dance, Milady?" Gabriel asked me, I nodded my head as he took my hand. We dance close in each other arms as I listened to the words,
"Let me call you sweetheart
I'm in love with you
Let me hear you whisper
That you love me too"I smiled remembering Auntie Rose singing it to uncle Lee many different times, it was always sweet to watch. "Adeline," Gabriel said snapping me back in reality, "Yes, Gabriel?" I smiled looking up at him. "I love you." Gabriel smiled softly as he told me, I couldn't help but smile. " I love you too, Gabriel." I smiled bigger, we finally said the most amazing three words you can hear from someone you care so deeply about.
"Keep the love light glowing
In your eyes so true
Let me call you sweetheart
I'm in love with you,"I smiled to myself as I put my head on his chest as we slowly dance around, tonight couldn't have been better. I loved him, he loved him, what could get better than that?
It was getting late and Gabriel took me home, "Thank you for an amazing night." I said before we kissed, "Anything for the woman I love. I'll see you tomorrow, sleep well tonight Adeline." He smiled, "I love you."
"I will, you as well. I love you too." We kissed again before he walked of and hopped up on the wagon, I watched for a moment before closing the door. I couldn't help but smile I was deeply in love with an amazing man.
