"joyeux Noel et bonne année" I said in French, "Does anyone know what this means?" I asked my students, as the front door opened i looked up to see Gabriel coming in. "joyeux Noel et bonne année," I repeated, "It means Merry Christmas and happy new year. Enjoy your Christmas break." I said as my students got up in a hurry to get out, "Don't forget your coats, it's cold out there." I yelled out to them, I turned around to clean the blackboard "A very good lesson, Miss Thornton." Constable Kingston said walking towards me. "Thank you, Constable." I smiled at him, "So did you just come here to hear the end of my lesson?" I chuckled, "I came here to walk the teacher home." He told me, a small smile came out. I grabbed my coat and my books, "Here let me take those," He said grabbing my books, "Thank you." I smiled at him, as I opened the door. The cold winter air, came over me as I stepped out the door. "It sure is colder today." I said walking towards the path that led to my house. "I love Christmas but the cold I'm ready for the warm weather again." He told me, i nodded my head in agreement. We walked back to my house as snow started to fall. "I have to check in on sergeant." I told him, "You can put the books inside." I smiled. I walked over to the barn quickly, the snow started to fall harder. "I'll give you lots of extra hay for now." I told him giving some more hay. When I came out, the snow was falling even more harder than it first originally was. "It's coming down pretty good." I told him coming in. "Yeah, I think we have a blizzard coming." He said looking out the window, "A blizzard?" I asked, "Yeah. How much food do you have?" He asked, "I-I just got groceries, it should last about a week. Why?" I asked confused, "Because at the rate the snow is coming down and it's all ready to the point where you can't see a foot in front... Nobody is going anywhere for a few days." He told me, "So we're suck here?" I asked, "Afraid so." He told me, "Where's your wood supply? We need to bring lots of wood in, and get a good fire going." He told me, "It's just around back." I told him, he give me his gun, "You know how to use this?" He asked, I nodded my head yes, "Good. If I don't come back in 10 minutes, point it in the air and start shooting." He told me, he opened the door, "Gabriel!" I said quickly before he want out said, he looked back at me, "Please be careful." I told him, holding the gun down at the floor. "I'll be right back." He smiled before heading out the door. Minute by minute, I waited worrying about him. Soon it was been five minutes and still nothing I couldn't help but worry its snowing like crazy if he got lost.... another 5 minutes went by and still nothing... I hesitated for a moment before heading over to the door and started shooting the gun like he said. One. Nothing. Two shots nothing. Three still nothing... after a few more shots it ran out, "No. No. No!" I said when it ran out, "Gabriel!" I yelled out into the cold air, "Gabriel!" I yelled again, still nothing. "God please bring him back, I can't lose him." I said to myself, after in the distance I saw red coming towards me, "Gab- Gabriel!" I yelled, he came close with a big arm full of wood. He came in and put the wood down, tears started to fell my eyes. "There that should last us for a day or so." He said putting a pice in the fire, he looked up at me and saw my eyes felled with tears. "Adeline, what's wrong?" He asked, "I-I was so worried." I said as I quickly walked over to him and give him a hug. "It's okay. I'm right her" He said as I looked in his eyes, he pulled me into a hug. "I love you." Gabriel told me as we hugged. "I love you too."
I was in the middle of making dinner and the snow was still coming down. Gabriel was sitting at the table that was in the kitchen, I couldn't help but wonder if this would like if we ever get married. I went back to fixing dinner. I was making potato soup, I haven't made that in a very long time.
I put everything in the pot and put it on the stove, "Dinner should be done soon." I said sitting down in the chair by him, "Okay. So, Christmas is in three days... what would you like?" He asked.. "Oh. I don't need anything. Through I really want a kitten." I said, he chuckled. "You want a cat?" He asked, I nodded my head. "Well, a kitten that grows up into a cat, yes." I smiled. He smiled looking down at the floor, "What are you smiling at?" I asked with a laugh, "I'm just wondering how I got so lucky." I smiled looking down at the floor.
