"Welcome home, Gabriel." Chuck smiled as they shook hands, "It's good to be back." Gabriel smiled before the girls and I walked over to join them. "It's good to have you home." Grace smiled before they hugged, "Thank you." Gabriel told her. "Welcome home." Lillian said with a smile. "A lot has changed since you've been gone." Lillian added with a smile looking at the sleeping baby in my arms. "Yes it has, but all for the good." Gabriel smiled at his friends before looking over at me. "Well if you'll excuse us. It's been a long journey back and I want to see my son more." Gabriel told our friends who all hugged him before they headed their own way.
"I think he looks like you the most. He's got my nose and ears but other than that I'd say he's your twin." I said with a chuckle as Gabriel held his son, "A true Kinslow. My mom always told me I looked just like my dad and now I have son who is my mini me." Gabriel couldn't help but smile. "I'm sorry I wasn't here to help you though your pregnancy, that must of been tough." He said as I put my head on his shoulder. "You were fighting for our country, please don't be sorry. It had its moments but I always had help, from Lillian and Grace, to Chuck, to Penny, and my mother. I'm truly blessed to have such wonderful friends and family in my life." I told him now looking at him, he didn't say anything but just leaned in and kissed me. "I love you." Gabriel said as we put our foreheads together. "I love you too. I'm happy you're home," I said with a smile.
That night Timothy slept all leaving me to wake him up to feed and change his diaper, which I wasn't gonna complain about because Gabriel really needed a good night's rest. I woke up to the sound of Timothy starting to fuss so I quickly got up to get him so he didn't wake his father. It was probably around 7 am so there was no point in feeding him and then laying back down. I took care of Timothy and then I started in on some breakfast which was pancakes and eggs.
"Good morning, sleepyhead." I greeted Gabriel as he walked out still looking half sleep. "Coffee Constable?" I asked him with a small giggle, "Please." He asked as he sat down at our table and started to talk to our son who was in his bassinet. I placed a plate of food along with a cup of coffee in front of Gabriel who smiled when he saw it. "Thank you for being such an amazing wife." Gabriel smiled before he pulled me in for a kiss. "You're welcome." I smirked before walking back over to the stove.
The rest of that day was spent as a family, Gabriel took a few days off before returning back to Brookfield's Mountie. He wanted to relax and enjoy being home first before he even thought of going back to work. Even though he was smiling and laughing, I knew there was still things bothering him from the Northern Territories and time was the only thing that could heal those wounds. But I do wish he would talk about it, maybe in time he'll open up I don't want to push to much right now. I'm just happy he's home safe and sound.
